Santa brought me a deep fryer so I could make french fries the way my husband likes them, lol
Other than that and loading up on frozen pre-made food, I don't know what else to do with it! any good recipes? good websites specializing in deep frying?
thanks all!!

I don't deep fry often, but when I do, it is homemade potato chips that I like best...kettle fries, I guess most people call them. We love home made potato chips because we can put our own healthy kinds of salt on them instead of the commercial stuff, and use healthy oils too and not have to worry about additives. They also taste so great.
For me the secret of perfect home made chips is to slice them very thin, make sure they are not wet when added to the oil, that the oil is very hot, drained off occasionally, and the chips must be kept moving to keep them from sticking together. Usually have the oil the right temperature takes care of that.
Have fun and don't get burned! There is a learning curve, I think, on using this kind of tool.

You can deep fry veggies like mushrooms and cauliflour. Fry fish and shrimp and other seafood. Chicken fingers and nuggets - made fresh - are great deep fried. Then there's potato pancakes, hush puppies and corn fritters... My mom used to make homemade donuts pretty often. Of course, just being able to have fresh cut french fries is wonderful in itself.
