I had a friend from overseas here and her, my daughter and I were going through old photos. I was elected to scan them and save them do a disc. Well my daughter had unplugged something to hook up the TV for the kids to play Guitar Hero. Now when I went to use the scanner I could not get it to work w=hat so ever. I fiddled with many cords thinking maybe my daughter had unplugged something along the lines. I restarted the computer thinking it may have bogged down and refused to work. Well let me admit my stupidity right now. There's a neat little feature on the scanner. Its called the "PowerP switch. I lost my mind or something yeasterday. I couldn't even relaize that all I needed to do was push the power button on. Dohhh! So what kind of "dumb" things have you done as far as puter technology goes?

That's too funny! That sounds like something I would do. I have done lots of dumb stuff before and then after I find out what the problem was I want to smack myself in the head LOL.

I do such stuff at least once a week and then I try to find a way out of the puzzle I created.
It is no fun, it is really annoying because a good computer is a computer who does what I want it to do.
But I think this is the way I learned it, I learned it on the go and not in a computer course.
Anyway, when the machine does what I wany it to do I am happy and proud.
Happy New Year and happy mylotting!

We all do this sort of thing from time to time.
A couple of years back, my ex sister in law, not the most intelligent of people, complained that her computer didn't work any more & the kids hadn't been able to play on it for awhile.
I checked it out. Yes, you guessed it. The power socket at the wall was turned off!

Come on Grandpa Bob give your self a break. At least you figured out what the problem was and be thankful it was something simple as turning it on. LOL! So did you get your pictures scanned?

Yes I finished them. I just felt so stupid. Especially since all I was thinking at first was that my daughter did something to unplug it or something along those lines. HAHAHAHA!!

Lol!!! A few months ago I was having a lot of trouble with my internet connection. The stupid company hadnt set it up properly when I first got it installed so I was really having a bad time with it... Well one day the usual thing happened, I couldnt get a connection. My aunt was here at the time and she knows a lot about computers, even she couldnt figure out what had gone wrong with it. I phoned the company and they said they would send one of their people out. (I have a bit of a temper!). I walked away from it to calm down. My husband came out of the room and said 'thats sorted now love. All you had to do was plug the internet cable into the back' Well I did fall about laughing. Thats what can happen when I get a bit hot-headed, I dont take the time to check things out properly!!! Although I am still waiting for the man to come and sort it out!!! I never heard from them!!! :-)

OMG, I could probably write a book about the stupid things I've done as far as puter technology goes. There were so many bone-headed moves I made when I first got my computer it's unbelievable. I did the exact same thing as you did with my all in one printer once. The power switch - who'd have thunk that???

yes I'm sure we've all experienced something like this, one time or another!
Well, there was once when we were searching and searching and realised that the plug was not properly put into the socket!
it's the simplest things that slip our minds sometimes. there was one dumb time when i was searching for my glasses and then realised that they were on my face. DOH!
