I have bought a flight in June to Riga in Latvia. I will be traveling with my baby son. I am trying to decide where we will go. Have you ever been to this region or St Petersburg in Russia? I want us to stay in guest houses and travel around by train and bus. Our holiday will be for two weeks.

I have been there long time ago. Riga is so pretty, you are going to be happy. St Petersburg is one of the kind...you have to see it too.... Latvia is very friendly and probably not expensive. What do you mean by guest houses?

Thank you so much for replying to my discussion. It is great to finally hear from someone that has been to Riga. Guest houses are reasonably priced small hotels often having less than ten bedrooms. Bed and Breakfast is similar, a bedroom is provided and breakfast is supplied in the morning.

I have never been to the regions you mention, but I would love to. It will be fascinating. Particularly Russia. How easy will it be travelling with your baby?

I hope that you visit Europe and see these interesting countries one day. Last year I took my baby son to Portugal. He didn't mind flying, he slept well in all the guest houses we stayed at. Challenges were getting his buggy up stairs and its wheels got damaged on all the cobbled streets of lovely Lisbon.

Thanks for wishing me a great holiday/vacation. I really love to travel and hope that when my baby is older he will be a keen traveler as well. The most exciting places I have been to so far are Los Angeles, Nairobi and Jerusalem.

I have been all through the Baltic region and I have been to St Petersburg. They are all worth going to. Two weeks is a very short time to try to do it all, but do what you can and just enjoy the scenery. It will be very different from what you are used to. St. Petersburg might still be chilly at night so keep that in mind for the little one. I am jealous. I wish I could go there again!! Shalom~Adoniah

I live in Estonia and I cannot stand the country. it is small and boring. I will leave it forever after finishing my studies. But the Old Town in Tallinn is considered to be the most beautiful among all the Medieval towns in Baltics, and it truly is, to my mind, so it is really worth visiting it. And their biggest island Saaremaa is also a good place to visit. It is quiet and beautiful.
