Shoes get smaller, while Clothes get bigger.

Has anyone else noticed that shoes, in certain stores at least, seem to be getting smaller. I will be 26 next week and I haven't grown since I was 12, and I am not pregnant, nor have I gained any significant amount of weight. Due to this I feel quite confidant that my feet are not increaseing in size, that and all my old shoe still fit. But now when I go to Walmart or wherever I am finding myself haveing to buy a size larger, or being unable to find anything that fits, if half sizes are not available. At the same time I am also noticeing that although I am actually bigger now that I was a few years ago, again being determined by clothing that I bought some time ago, and by the scale, I am actually needing a smaller size in pants. Which leads me to believe that clothes are getting bigger. This really annoys me because I am rather small and short as well so some brands that only go as low as size 4-5 are no longer making anything that fits me at all. Has anyone else noticed this trend? As much as it annoys me I understand that the clothes are getting bigger to make people feel smaller so they will feel better about themselves and resultingly buy more clothes. But what is up with the shoes? Do they think we want to feel like we have big feet? I know I don't.

I noticed that. It is so easy to find large sized clothes, but God forbid you need a size 10 shoe... you are doomed. Shoe sizes that are larger than a size 7 seem to be difficult to come by. Most women cannot help it that they have big feet.

Really? I find when I am looking for shoes that all there ever is left at sale is size 6 and down and size 10 and up. It's probably the most common size in your area or something. Walmart almost always has big sizes of shoes.

i think it it just depends on the maker of the clothing or shoes. my daughter is 14 and depending on what brand of clothing, she can wear anywhere from a 0 - a 6! same goes for shoes, she can fit anywhere from a 7-8 depending on the brand!

Yeah sizes vary from brand to brand but I think that I have noticed a slight change in most of the brand's sizing.

Well I have been wearing the same size shoes for a few years now, but I believe I wear a smaller size than I did 5 years ago even though I weight about 10 lbs more. As far as clothing, I am so all over the board with sizes that it is not funny. I really think that it depends on where you shop. I can fit into anything from a size 6 to a size 10 depending on the store. I find the higher priced the items is the higher size I have to buy (which is really annoying!) which is one reason I don't buy expensive pants.
