a special cat

i was never a cat person until Cleo came into my life. Cleo came to live with me after her former caretaker died. A friend was taking care of her temporarily, but she already had three cats of her own and knew i wanted a pet, so offered Cleo up for me to adopt. I met Cleo and took her home with me. That was on March 10, 2005 and we're still together. Basically, Cleo is a lap cat, and purrs most of the time. All her wants are met with food, water, a clean litter box and all my attention! She has honored me with the privilege of being the sole member of her pack. Sometimes I get the feeling that she thinks she's my guardian -- accompanying me to the bathroom, following me throughout the house or scooting in front of me and leading the way. Even though I'm a slow walker, she's slower because of her shorter legs. When i'm in a hurry I just nudge her and she skedaddles. I have many terms of endearment for sweet Cleo. One is "Miss Drop 'n Flop." That's exactly what she does. Her body goes limp; she drops -- then flops to her side. Usually she's one footstep ahead of me when she does that. She is lucky that I haven't dropped and flopped right on top of her. One night she pulled that routine and I almost did fall on top of her. Cats have good night vision, unlike most people. It was the middle of the night and I had to go to the bathroom when she pulled her drop and flop stunt. I ended up missing her and fell on my knee instead. All in all, Cleo is good company for me. She's my furry, purry chubby girl With a perky little nose, Who saunters, tail up waving, No matter where she goes. (Now you know why poetry is not one of my genres.) One last thing, and Cleo helped me on this, folks. Where do cats go on vacation? Did you say Meowi??? You're a winner!
