The Helium reward-athon has got me inspired to improve some of my poorer ranking articles in an attempt to earn some stars and get those rewards. I am going to leapfrog this article, but would like some feedback on it first. Can anyone read it and give me some constuctive criticism? I am open to suggestions.

Hi Sillychick,
I went and had a look at your article. There are some good ideas in there but they don't come out as clearly as they might be able to.
From my experiences with leapfrogs, it is good to make as many changes as possible and given the ranking of this article you have nothing to lose by doing a complete rewrite.
The article looked like it may be on the shorter side of life, at least 400 is a good minimum. Some of your sentences are a little long as are your paragraphs. Try and get only 3-4 sentences a paragraph. For example the last paragraph could easily be broken into two the second paragraph starting from Food should be...
Internet readers have a short attention span so shorter paragraphs/sentences work well. Plus more paragraphs mean more white spaces so that also makes it look more appealing!
It is also useful to read what others have written on the same subject. Nothing like knowing the competition!
Anyway hope this all helps good luck with the rewrite, let me know when it is done so I can check it out.
PS you can also ask helium for a mentor to help you with an article here and there or post in the forum for more user advice.

Thanks very much for your input, I will take your suggestions into consideration when rewriting. I know a lot of my earlier articles are short- it seemed to be the preference for a while there.
I have posted another article in the feedback forum at Helium and already had the new article take a jump in ratings. I am planning to do 2 or 3 a week until I improve all of my low rated articles.

I read you article and it is good, in fact it is better then some of the articles above you (which I also read, well...a few of them anyway). This leads me to wonder if you rate on Helium. The more you rate the more your articles will get seen and the more they get seen the more likely they will move to the top. It isn't my favorite thing about Helium and it isn't always the easiest thing to do, but it is part of the system and working the system often helps us get where we want.
Additionally you need three rating stars to make money as well as writing stars, so that is a great place to begin.
As for this article it is clear, has good organization, and it will be hard for you to come up with something that is so much better that a leapfrog will get accepted. Sorry I couldn't help you a little more...it seems you have a good start, you just have to keep writing. Remember a few things...first the more articles you have the larger your bottom 10% can be. Second, don't forget to rate, it is sooo important for getting good ratings on your articles! Good Luck!
