Or are you a mix person? Do you skip the baking all together and buy it already made from the store? I am one of those people who makes most things from scratch. I think that baked goods taste so much better when they are made fresh and from scratch.

I do all of the above depending on my mood and how I am feeling. I cannot ever make a decent pie crust. In that I am a failure not that it bothers me. I love to make cakes from scratch though. I get very inventive and people seem to like them. I rarely eat them myself. It is the act of making that I like.
When I was a kid, I worked in a bakery and learned a lot of good stuff. I worked nights and the pies were made during the day. That may be why I never became proficient at pie crusts. lol

I always make cookies from scratch, but cakes from a box mix. I don't know why, except that my mom always did it that way! She made some great home made pies, too, including the crust, but I have a heck of a time making a good crust for some reason. Probably because I just never took the time to learn to do it right. I make home made pie fillings but buy the frozen crusts!

I almost always bake from scratch. I do occasionally use cake mixes though.I also sometimes buy the hot roll mix when I am making cinnamon rolls. I bake every Wednesday. I bake enough to last all week. We then use it for lunch boxes, desserts and snacks all week.

I don't have the skills to cook from scratch except for simple recipes. But I do like to try 'assembling' things.

I make everything from scratch. Spaghetti, meatballs, chili, cakes, cookies, muffins, pies...I like to know hot to make something, and I like tinkering with recipes until they are just right! This past year I even grew my own pumpkins and made pumpkin pies from it!

I alway love to bake and never use a mix one. I like to make cookies or cake from the scratch. I just don't like the mix one because, I like to make a different with my cookies or cake compare to others. I think the taste also is much much much better compare to the cookies or cake from the mix one. Now that I know how to bake a cookies and cake, I can't see the point why must I use the ready made ingredients.

I'm the "Queen of the Mixes". I can only bake chocolate chip cookies and sugar cookies from scratch. Anything else is a total disaster even if I follow the recipe to the letter. I love to cook from scratch, but if someone could teach me the secret of baking from scratch it would be a miracle! LOL!

I do both, although I must admit I bake from scratch far less than I used to. You're right, though, things do taste better when they're made from scratch. I still make all my cookies from scratch of most of the cakes I make so I haven't become a total box baker.

hiya,
there are some things that I bake from scratch, some i buy in a box to make and others that I just don't even bother!!
I had a partner once who had to go on a gluten free diet, so I was stuck making EVERYTHING from scratch, and I do mean EVERYTHING!!
I have to say though, I still make my white sauces, cheese sauces, that kind of stuff from scratch. I just can't even think of buying a packet mix anymore. And oddly enough they do actually taste better with gluten free flour than normal flour!
And its just so so good that I end up eating spoonfuls out of the saucepan before pouring them onto the dinners! Lucky I make so much!
I also found that making from scratch isn't that much harder or more work than packet/jar/tin stuff. I've just gotten lazy!
