What is your favorite line from a movie, book, poem, or song? Describe where the line came from and why you like it. Why is it a part of your life? Why does it inspire you?

My favorite line from a movie (and I don't think I need to name the movie)... "First, your return to shore was not part of our negotiations nor our agreement so I must do nothing. And secondly, you must be a pirate for the pirate's code to apply and you're not. And thirdly, the code is more what you'd call "guidelines" than actual rules. Welcome aboard the Black Pearl, Miss Turner." Ok, well it's more than one line, and if you insist on only one then of course it would be the final line... Welcome aboard the Black Pearl, Miss Turner. I like that line because, like so many other lines in that movie, it was funny and perfectly delivered. It is part of my life because I am such a pirate myself, and that is exactly my viewpoint of rules.

Beautiful! You're right, you didn't have to name the movie. I absolutely love the trilogy. I'm definitely not picky, so I'll count the whole quote as your favorite "line." (LOL) You chose a great movie to refer to and an excellent actor (my favorite from the movie). Thanks for the inspiration. You've definitely encouraged me to watch all three movies again sometime very soon. Thanks for your awesome response, Zig Zag. :)

Now that I'm talking about it like this I don't know how I can wait... I live up in the mountains where there are no theaters, so I have to wait for it to come out on DVD! I think I'm going to have to keep myself busy with the other two for awhile!

That is so funny! Thanks for the laugh. I can definitely see why you're a Johnny Depp fan. He's such a crowd pleaser! In my opinion, he isn't at his complete best until the last movie. Let me put in a plug here - you'll love 'At World's End'! I finally saw it shortly after Christmas. It was pretty amazing. You'll have to let me know what you think.

i love the line of Julia Robert's from the movie Notting Hill. it goes: "i'm just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love me.." it really touched my heart and it really sounded so romantic and i think that saying those lines is a sign of being brave and a lot of determination. and then, i love the part in the song "way back into Love" which goes: i've been watching but the stars refuse to shine i've been searching but i just don't see the sign because i can totally relate to it. ^__^

Those are both amazing lines. Thanks for sharing them with me! Although I can't relate to the first one, I definitely can to the second! Sometimes the best time to find your favorite lines and quotes is when you're going through something at the time to which those relate. Those are very touching. Thanks for sharing!

My 3 advice to youth is hardwork, hardwork, hardwork - this is the statement made by German Reformer Bismark. That is the statement that holds good for centuries to come.

You've chosen a wonderful motto. It shows a lot about your character and personality. This would lead me to believe that you, too, are a hard worker. Thanks so much for the inspiration.

Winston Churchill said....Success is not final...failure is not fatal...it's the courage to continue that counts. I think it's very inspirational because it shows you that you are never really a failure if you keep on trying. If you have a dream....never, never, ever give up....and that's another one of my favorite says....by unknown!

I absolutely love your response as well as you favorite quote. It's so true! You never completely fail until you give up and refuse to try. Winston Churchill is an awesome example to us. And I also love the quote you mentioned at the end, "Never, never, ever give up." I'm so glad you posted this because it's inspired me! I couldn't wait to start this discussion because I'm interested to find out what fellow myLotters enjoy, what inspires them, what is their "drive," so to speak...what makes them tick. I love learning new things, and you've really helped me to learn and to see a glimpse of who you are as well! Thanks again so much for your response (and a bonus quote!) Keep up the good work, Jill!
