This weekend the grandsons stayed overnight again. At Walmart they had kids jigsaw puzzles on clearance so we got the boys each a puzzle. After finishing it the daughter & wife went back to get some glue to save the puzzle. This one is 8 x 11 inches. Do you do jigsaw puzzles? Do you glue them to preserve them for hanging etc? My daughter had about 15 or so done hanging on her living room walls. I plan on getting back into doing jigsaw puzzles. I prefrer nature scenes especially wintertime ones. I also like the larger puzzles of 1500 pieces or more. Time consuming but very calming on my nerves etc. I will glue them and hang them. But personally I will hang them in the basement in the den/bedroom.

My son loves to do jigsaw puzzles (and so did I as a child). But he also loves doing it again ...so I never glued it (except once) and we have another son who is a year old now and might want to use it.
The only time I glued a jigsaw puzzle he did was the one he did over the summer holidays. It was 300 piece jigsaw puzzle and he wanted to take it to school to show his teacher and friends...so I glued it and he took it to schoo. The school decided to keep it and he was very proud. It was a picture of 3 giraffes in Africa.

Oh yes he was! He wants to do a bigger one this summer. Jigsaw puzzles are a big help when we go out. When he was younger we would take the smaller ones and he had a board in the car where he would do it. Now we've got him those little hand held ones where the squares move around (I don't know what you call them).

He must have been elated that the school wanted to keep it I bet.

I love making puzzles. Usually the glue comes in the box of puzzles too. And we just need to sweep one or two layers across. Of course that means you can't break it up to do again.
The main problem is finding a large frame for puzzles that are 1000 and up. They are very very expensive.
Wintertime puzzles are hard to make! I can just imagine - all that white and then the occasional dark bit. Of course in a winter scene there will be diffeernt shades of white and you'll have to group those together first.

I never thought about using a frame. HAHAHAHA! Just hanf
them on the wall frameless. My daughter uses regular Elmers
white glue for hers. It works great from what I see.

I like puzzles but never seem to find the time to do one. One of these days, I'm going to get one of those puzzle mats that you can just roll up when your in the middle of working on a puzzle. My cats would have a field day with the pieces if the puzzle is left out.

I am going to get a card table for the puzzles as well when
I go shopping. I won't tie up my dining room table. And I
don't trust those mats. HAHAHAHA!!

Oh grandpa! I love puzzles!! I do them all the time when I have the chance unless I'm into doing some other project such as cross stitching like I am now. I prefer 750 to 1000 pieces for it's challenging and a lot of fun. However though, I have glued them but I don't know how to hang them. Can you please tell me how it's done? I've made a couple for my mom for her teddy bear room and we don't know how to hang them. Please do tell your secrets!!
I like scenery puzzles too, be it flowers or a country cottage in the country with a lake and swans or the snow with winter birds. Those are my favorites however I've done many others just for the sport of it.

You can get that putty stuff used for hanging them. Its like silly putty. You put a little dab in the corners and hang them. Otherwise just a picture hanger works as well.

Where do you get the puddy stuff? At a craft store or does Walmart carry it? And what is a picture hanger? Can you post a picture of one on here so I can see what it looks like?
Thanks Grandpa Bob for taking the time to explain it to me. Bless you!

I like redoing them as well at times. What I used to do that my mom did was try to put it together with the pieces upside down so you don't see the picture on the pieces. Do it just by the cutout shape. Very hard but fun and time consuming. HAHAHAHA!!

No, I hate jigsaw puzzles. I'm too impatient for it. I find it just too frustrating to stick with something so long.

I used to work puzzles a lot when my children were younger. I am trying to get my mother (age 74) to do puzzles as it is supposed to help stave off dementia! Someone told me that there are places that will make your personal pictures into puzzles. I'd love to find a place that would make a puzzle out of a picture of her grandchildren, she'd work that one! I read all the responses on this discussion and am glad to hear that regular elmer's white glue will work. The puzzle glue is expensive! (at least in my small town!) You've got me wanting to run to WalMart for a puzzle!

I used to glue my kids puzzles all the time for them. They would hang them in their bedrooms. A very cheap way to decorate. I used to do puzzles all the time. I have a 1000 piece puzzle of backyard birds that I am getting ready to start. Not sure if I will hang it or not yet.

When my mother was alive we did a lot of puzzles together. But never saved them. We placed it in the box and donated them to senior centers and other places like that. Great therapy for people with hand eye cordnation troubles.

I have worked puzzles before and save them by gluing them to hang up. It's been awhile since I have worked one. I have way too many projects going on to work any currently. But I have to agree with you, I like the larger number puzzle.

It's been quite a few years since I did one myself. I am going to get a couple or more this weekend I think. Gotta check out the Dollar Stores first and foremost for them.

I love to do puzzles. They give me something to focus on when I am having anxiety. I don't usually glue mine. I just finish it and put it back in the box.
I just bought three children's puzzles over Christmas that matches the theme of what I am going to do with my daughter's bedroom when she is a little bit older. These three I will glue and frame for her walls.

I like putting together puzzles but I normally don't have the time or space to put them together. But when I get them done I like to save them too.

I love doing puzzles. I am doing one right now it has 1500 pieces. Its a picture of all kinds of flowers. I been doing puzzles for a long time. I have boxes and boxes of them. I have only glued 3 of them, the rest I just put back in the box. I trade the puzzles with my sister, she loves doing puzzles also.

I love doing puzzles but don't get near a chance to do them anymore except the simple ones my son does :)
While I was in college I lived with a family in the city where I schooled and they were doing a 3D puzzle of a puzzle which I helped them to work on! It was the most awesome and challenging puzzle I had ever helped to complete and so much fumn to do but many many hours! They glued and placed it on a shelf what an accomplishment!
My Mom has a large puzzle that she keeps in her sun room on top of a cabinet as it needs to be glued...It is large and is one of Anne Geddes Photos which she did all on her own spare time.

I don't really do jigsaws on my own but I do help the kids with them sometimes as they love to do them. I think glueing and hanging them is a wonderful idea but my kids won't let me do that as they love to do them again ! Know you will have fun with your puzzles AGB - look forward to seeing more pictures! Hugs xxx

I have a friend who can do a 1000 piece puzzle in a few days. She starts at the top and works her way down. I have one she did for me and framed. I do not have it hung yet because she did not frame it well. I have to get cardboard backing and reframe it.
It is cute and will go well in my office.
