How many of us use tax service companies like H&R Block, Jackson Hewitt, etc.?
How many of us do their own taxsonline or by paper?I personal do my own tax, I love doing my own and i've been doing them for over 4+ years. I like to call tax season Christmas for ADULTS. Its usually christmas for adults especially if you have children to claim and don't owe IRS.
How do you feel about tax season?

I have been using Jackson Hewitt for the last few years. I was using H&R Block but decided to switch to see if our tax outcome changed for the better. I would like to be able to do my own but I am so afraid I will mess it up somehow and get audited or shortchange ourselves. We never get much back in taxes. I only get to claim my daughter every other year, even though she lives with me 24/7 and never sees her father. We never get the earned income credit either which would be very nice.

you know you can look into still getting credit for your daughter(you can pick up the back end of child credits like daycare expension) Turbo Tax do show you and tell you that. You can also look into this IRS site and learn about the back end credits that can be picked up but parents.

Ok. Thanks alot for that information. My daughter is 15 and never sees her dad. He does not ever give her the time of day but the judge awarded him to file taxes on her every other year because I do not work outside the home and make as much as he does, which isn't fair. He only pays $50.00 a week in child support. My husband is the main provider for my family and we take care of my daughter the most. I make money online. It is just that I do not earn enough from one site to have to file taxes on it. I earn around $4000.00 - $5000.00 a year, but not all from site, so I don't have to file taxes on that.

It's a pain in the butt. Reading the tax manuals and applying their statements to preparing tax forms is nothing short of aggravating. I prepare my own forms and at the same time, try to brace myself for a looming big tax bite. Thank goodness, I arranged my job so that I will have a lower reportable income by the end of 2008. I'll still owe taxes, but the payment due will be mostly chump change. :-)

I usually use Turbo Tax online. It costs me way too much to go to a tax store such as H&R Block. I don't claim that much except my home office, cell phone and interest paid on my house, so it makes no sense to let someone else do my taxes for me and then charge me close to $100 to get them done. It's easier for me to do it myself online and just get charged half the amount of money.
I used to send in my information blank to the IRS and they'd do it for me, but that was before I bought my house. I had no deductions there whatsoever.
