I repurpose stuff all the time. You know those little room freshners that are a stand up glass square? (Glade?) When they don't have any scent anymore, I peel the scent pad off the back and use them for mini-picture frames. Cut the picture to size, press in, hot glue some tiny rope pearls, etc, around and it's very pretty. I also took four of them and with colored paper and stick on letters, made a pretty 'N-0-E-L' decoration for up on the one shelf for during Christmas.
Another thing I do is to reuse those boxes that come from AOL, etc, with the free disk inside. Some of the mailing boxes open like a little book and have a magnetic edge closure. I spray paint them, then add a design, or a decopage, on the front, and take fan-folded scrapbooking paper and make a little mini-photo album. If you cut the paper to size and make a seam off center from one of the folds, you can put at least five or six photos on a side and it comes out accordian style. I made one for a relative sort of like a brag book, she loved it, and the only thing that cost me was a smidgeon of spray paint, and the pictures.

Oh wow, you are so crafty and creative! I would have never thought of either of those ideas! I do often look at items that are really neat and destined for the trash and wonder just what could possibly be made from them! Kudos to you!

This is thanks to a discussion on myLot by a friend of mine. I am now saving glass jars of convenient sizes to use as food storage in the refrigerator, because I do not like all those plastic disposable containers. I guess that is kind of tame. How about, I made a lot of my Christmas gifts out of recycled tin cans, I painted various sizes dark blue with snowmen, snow flakes and evergreen trees. I put home made muffin mix, homemade cappuccino mix and votive candles in them. I used curly wires that I had torn out of old spiral notebooks as handles on these buckets.

Oh wow! I love the idea about using the tin cans for packaging of gifts! And using the wire from spiral notebooks was genius! Thanks!
