I can not wait to see adaptation of a classic TV series for the big screen.
“Get Smart “was my favorite classic TV series to watch.
I love comedies and I am sure I will like new Agent 87 and Agent 99.
Did you like “Get Smart”?
Do you think that Steve Carell looks like Don Adams?
I think they look alike.

Is Steve Carell going to be the new Maxwell Smart? Before I saw the entire topic I was just thinking he'd be perfect for the role (although it seems like he might be a little shorter but who cares)
He is so funny in his other roles (especially The Office) that he will kill as the new Smart. I'll have to call my dad and alert him as he doesn't watch much tv but he is a die hard Get Smart fan. I always thought the old shows were real funny but somehwat outdated. I'll definitely be tuning in for the new one. Have they said when it will start airing?

Yeah I liked it and might look at new one but some times I feel they lose something after you have watched the old actors.
LIke we watched Shaggy this week end with Tim Allen . he was in no way Like fred MacMurry doing the black and white show. and I liked the black and white version the best!

Get Smart... oh man!
This is going to be a great year. Steve Carrell is the PERFECT choice. I don't think they need to look alike (although they kinda do), it's whether Carrell can get the spirit of Don Adams who was so... flamboyant.
Speed Racer is coming out in 2008 which is obviously from the animated Japanese series (I think that is due out in may) and from the Wachowski brothers (remember the Matrix!!!).
The Transformers was out last year... heck I'm reliving my childhood!Below is a picture... I really think they have done a good job with making them look like the original.

Much like you I can not wait for Get Smart to come out. I think Steve Carell is going to do a fabulous job as Agent 99. I'm not sure if he looks exactly like Don Adams, but he has the feel for the character. I can see that just by watching the trailer. The best thing about that show was the silly humor. Remember the "shoe phone"? Who can forget that? lmao

My god, I wish I was young enough to say the first series were the classics, but I watched the original series, and enjoyed every episode. I could tell you more, but the 'cone of silence' is inoperable. I hope the movie is up to standard.
Do you know who has the leading roles?

Do you remember when the FOX network tried to revive the "Get Smart" series back in the mid 1990's? They brought back the original 87 and 99, and included their supposed now adult children. It didn't last long, but I thought it was a fun concept. I used to watch Get Smart and Dragnet on Nick at Nite when I was pretty young. My mom said I insisted on watching them every week night when they were on. I didn't really make a connection with Don Adams and Steve Carell until I saw a clip of the upcoming film. He was a great casting choice. What do you think of casting Anne Hathaway (Princess Diaries, Becoming Jane) as Agent 99?

I think Anne will fit well...
I can not wait. I love good comedies. In fact, once a year I have comedy day at my home and we are watching movies and having fun for at least 10 hours.
Girls only (he, he...girls age 30-60)

I used to love that show. It was so funny! All of his antics always made me laugh and kept me tuning in for more. I don't know how I feel about the new movie. I guess I will just have to wait and see!

I was a big fan of the original and I can't wait to see the movie. Steve Carrel is not my favorite actor but he is a perfect fit for this part and I LOVE Anne Hathaway. I am a 43 yo guy and I still watched Princess Diaries. That's how much I love her. She was great in "Devil Wears Prada" and I am sure she will do great as the "Straight Man" to Carell's Smart. Some people fit certain characters. Not like The Pink Panther movie. Steve Martin is NoT Clouseau. Jim Carrey is great but he is NOT Count Olaf. But Carell will do a great job as 86.
BTW to the poster above , That should be "The Actor Formerly Known As the ROCK". :)

Ican't wait to see "Get Smart" either cause Steve Carroll is going to be awesome in it! The Rock is also going to be in it as the bestfriend of Maxell Smart.

There's going to be a movie ? I will want to see it as well, I used to love "get smart" :):):)
Hopefully it will be a good one. I remember I so wanted to see "the avengers " also adapted from the other series at that time and in the end it was not very good at all.

There is some resemblance between the two, the most important is that they can be funny acting seriously which is the reason of the hilarious series. The director is the same of 50 First Dates and Anger Management. It will fun one to watch, its release date is June 20 in the US. Just leave you guys with a trailer
