My favorite pagan sabbat is around the corner, and once again I need to get off my lazy bum and honor my goddess. The thing is, I dun do rituals often, and like every year, I dun have the foggest idea how to celebrate Imbolc. How do you celebrate Imbolc, and who do you celebrate it with?

Lots and lots of fire! Woohoo! :P I like to light a candle in a bowl of snow and Imbolc, and let the snow melt away throughout my ritual. Sort of a thing with living in the frozen north and this holiday being just a little bit closer to spring. :P Imbolc is usually for healing rituals around here. Granted, I do healing rituals pretty much all the time, but a large part of what I know about the Goddess Brigid comes from my great-grandmother, who was a healer before all else, and invoked Brigid mostly for healing. :) My rituals change a lot depending on whether I'm going to be alone or with people, and what is going on in my life at the time, so it's hard to say exactly what my ritual will look like. I might read the Imbolc poem I just wrote, or I might chant and have my son dance with me... just as long as I don't get him near all that fire. :P

The closest thing here to snow is a local desert we make with ice shavings. You know, you two are making me think very hard about settling down and all... It just seems very warm to be with love ones on Imbolc :)

Haha, I think you're lucky not to be buried in snow half the year. :P It is neat having someone with you to celebrate. I used to be involved a lot with various other pagans in my community, but these days most holidays are spent with my son, and sometimes my husband gets involved too, even though it's not exactly his beliefs. :)

It takes my partner a great deal of effort just to make sure her eyes are not rolling whenever I do my 'pagan thing' so I dun think I'll be celebrating Imbolc with her this year :p But you never know, 'upper management' put us together, I'm sure she has plans. Will be interesting to watch, no *evil grin*

I agree Imbolc is a wonderful time. In my home we have a very simple ritual of spending our time making corn dollies for the kids who will both dress as maidens, we will visit a couple of naighbours and give gifts of corn. I also like to eat ewe's cheese as part of a meal. Later i will ask the goddess to bless us with Frig, fodder, flag and flax blessed be

Imbolc is when we light candles throughout our house smudge & cleanse it. It's also when we "should" clean out the circle around the great oak of the winters debree.

I usually do a lot of celebrating with candles and what not. I haven't had a chance to really celebrate Imbolc or anything lately. I completely forgot about it coming up until I saw on a community that I'm a member of post their altars for the season. I've thought about doing something now to celebrate but I haven't gotten around to it. When I do, I'm by myself.

Hi Scammerwear, Are you still around? I see this topic is a year past. A friend of mine is having an Imbolic Party. She will have it on Jan. 31st. There are many here of her religion. She is inviting 3 people at a time. A couple and a single. So if you are part of a couple, you bring a single. Other than bars, there are no places to really meet up here. Beyond that, I don't know. That is why I'm going to read all of the responses to your post. Take care.

Ya, I'm still around :) but I don't live in America lol, so I guess I'll have to give your friend's party a miss. Thanks for the invite though!

Glad you're still here. Yeah, this distance thing is a bummer. Too bad we can't just go on the wings of thought wherever we want. Take care.
