1st Feb is Imbolc, the day which Lady Brighid, both Goddess and Saint is honored. It is the eve of Imbolc here (I don't live on the CST time zone), and I have written a short poem in honor of my patron Goddess. Please feel free to leave a comment!
===========
Goddess Brighid, my lady of the radiant flame
I thank you for days passed, your blessings done
The lessons learned, the paths crossed
Be with me Great Mother, as I call to you this Imbolc
Hear me has I speak these words of thanks and gratitude
Be with me on my journey to that which has yet become
On this holiest of days, I call to you in love and wonder
Light my path with your wisdom, guide me with your light
Bless these hands I spread before you, my Fairest Lady
Let them forge your tender blessings upon the world
May my heart be the wick to hold your flame, Fair Maiden
The light of your flames, shine eternally bright

What a lovely poem, we celebrate Imbolc today (2nd Feb) in Britain, as it's when the Irish celebrate it.
I've suddenly come over all depressed for some reason which is a bummer on a day we're supposed to be celebrating the transition between winter and spring, it's meant to be positive. Maybe my body is just a bit shocked it's here already and I suffer from depression anyway. I'm going to go shopping in a minute and get some nice food and go and celebrate with my friends.

It is different in different parts of the world as it all the Pagan festivals are to do with the sun and how many hours of daylight there are and when it changes.

Actually I have never been very sure when to celebrate the festival, and since I live in a pagan backwaters, I dun have anyone to ask.
I do hope that the new spring will bring you joy and happiness. May that which you hold divine be with you, always :)

That is a nice poem. Who was Lady Brighid? What is Imbolc? How do you find out about this? I'm just curious. Is there any books you could suggest to me to read on this subject?

Thank you slothgurl! Lady Brighid is an ancient Celtic Goddess, who is also honored as a saint in some part of the world. Imbolc is the festival which both pagans and catholics celebrate to honor her.
I'm a practicing pagan and came across writings about her many years ago, been a follower ever since :)
Has there are conflicting accounts of the different tales about her (this is pretty common for mythology around that era), the easiest place to start reading will be the websites which are dedicated to her. A few good ones are:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/brighid

May that which you hold divine, be with you always :)
