Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher is set to get more opportunities in the team after a frustrating run on the sidelines.
The player, who celebrates his 24th birthday on 1st February, has only started two Premier League matches all season - against Sunderland and West Ham over the festive period.
But he did not even make the bench for the champions in their last two games against Portsmouth in the league and Spurs in the FA Cup.
This must have come as a disappointment to the Scottish international as other fringe players Nani, Park Ji-Sung and John O'Shea featured in one or both of those games.
And Paul Scholes' triumphant return to midfield for the Portsmouth game after three months out injured must have made Fletcher wonder further if he will ever make the team.
Opportunities
But United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has promised he will get opportunities as United go for the elusive league, cup and UEFA Champions League treble.
Speaking about the situation, Ferguson told the Manchester Evening News: "I feel for Darren Fletcher."I have not been playing him in the last two or three games but he is a fantastic player for United. He never lets us down. He plays well in all the big games."He must be feeling down but I will make sure he gets his opportunities because you need players like him in the squad."

He's never going to set the world alight but he wouldn't let us down either. He's hugely dependable and the perfect player to fill up the squad. These players are the difference for United and one of the reasons why they have been so succesful over the years. I'd rather have reasonable squad players who play well when they get their chance than a bench full of superstars on huge wages with bruised egos who play terribly when called on. (I'm thinking of certain Chelsea players in particular)
