The Guards.

Hello! Aside from teachers and classmates that we always encounter at our schools, he or she is the first one that we always meet whenever going to school. The guards. We sometimes ignore them by habit and they are seemingly strict at us since they're suppose to be. Its part of their job. I however got friends with the one at our campus. He does look strict at first impressions but, he was really nice and friendly. Here's how nice he was: For the four years that I have been at our school, I came to be friends with that guard. During the second semester of our fourth year, an order about hair-cut was implemented. When I got to school, he asked me about what I will do with my long hair now that the order was out. I shrugged and gave a slight frown. He knew how I felt. The following days, he didn't stop me about my hair. He just let me pass the gates like usual. Like the four years that I have been at school, he must've also came to realize how hard I gave to the effort of growing my long hair. I am so thankful for his consideration. I know not all the guards we meet either at schools or malls for example, are nice but, here's one that is. How about you? Did you befriend the guards that you usually meet at school?

UST security guards are generally nice. But there are some--pitiful some--who act arrogantly. :

Yes, there are those who aren't really nice at all. They even sometimes make you feel that they are deliberately trying to ruin your day. However, that's how they are most of the time and also, that's how they were instructed to do their jobs, so that the saying, 'familiarity breeds contempt would not happen at all.

Well, I have gone through the front and back of that main building before and they do seem to be more serious about their job. I wonder if they have rotations when it comes to being assigned in a particular building in that University..? Yeah, being friends with them isn't really a bad idea.

I ignored them at first too then I got involved with Red Cross Crisis Management Team. I got to know most of them during training. We taught them how to handle emergency situations and how to properly tend to injured people. I saw how dedicated they were in learning all the terms and techniques. When I asked them why do they think they need to learn these things, one said "ako kasi yung first person on the scene, kaya dapat alam ko kung ano ang dapat mangyari" They look strict and some of them are a bit nasty but they're good people and they're just doing their jobs.

Indeed, though I do see some who do look like the type that goof around and are not really serious about their duties, when the moment of need comes, they all become snappy and perform quite well and precisely Thanks for sharing

I'm not a friendly person, so I usually ignore the guards. I only interact with them if I have to show my ID. There are people who can easily befriend a guard, and I think they have a wide range of relationship. There are UST guards who were nice, but there are also some who annoy me. Well, I don't mind them, anyway. Nice for you who can befriend anyone easily :)

Not really anyone, it just so happens that the guards at our building were friendly. (^_^ ) If the guards were so strict, I guess I would have a hard time befriending them and they would obviously wouldn't have permitted me to grown my hair too long (^_^")

Yes, I do befriend guards in the university especially the one that is assigned in our building. Because after all, they are the ones who we really encounter everyday :)

Yeah, being friends with them, well not really the close kind of friendship but, the good one that you get to develop with those people that you see each day you go to that institution is really nice. You get to have some privileges that you would only get from being friends with them after all
