Do you snoop?

Are you maybe a tiny bit nosey sometimes? The age old question, do you open the medicine cabinet when you are in someone's bathroom? If you had to spend an hour in someone's home while they were out, would you take a peek in the fridge, the cupboards? How far would you go? Would you feel a little inquisitive? Isn't it just a little bit fun to see what's behind closed doors, drawers?
And there's other levels of snooping - have you ever looked inside a dumpster? Do you take a look behind the counter at the store? How about the glove compartment of a car or even just a look inside someone's car? Do you rubberneck at a traffic accident? How many more occasions are there to snoop? Do you look to see what your neighbor has put out in the trash? Do you look out the window to see what's going on? I'm getting carried away, but you get the point.
And if you're ethical enough not to snoop, has it ever occurred to you and you stopped yourself from prying?

Oh I am so guilty on so many levels...and the sad thing is that I was in denile!! I used to say that I was an observer to many of the things that you mentioned, but now when you put it that way, I really was being nosy.
Now since we have moved, I have found myself watching the neighbors more than I used to...before I wanted nothing to do with them and never paid any attention to what they were doing. But where we are, and the couple that we have as neighbors, it is so awesome to watch them. They are older and have been together for I think 22 years, and to see what bond they have is just so cool to watch!!
But I am definitely the type of person who HATES being out of the loop. If I don't know what's going on I go nuts...but then because I don't want to seem too nosy I usually don't flat out ask about what is going on. But then again, the way I look at that is that it's the only way for me to REALLY get to know the person/people that I am talking too!! You'll never know what you could have found out if you never ask!

Oh, I don't know if I would call that being snoopy. I might call it a "student of life" :-}}. And there are some of us who really like being in the loop. I, for one, like being in the loop. My actual experience is "a day late, a dollar...

I used to be quite the snoop when I was younger. As I have gotten older, I am not so much anymore. I feel I would be violating the other person, even if they didn't know. I would know and it would bother me.

I don't like snooping this much.. but if i am staying over my friends place then yes .I am going to take a good tour of whole of her house.. its pretty fun..!!
I love it but only in my friend's house.
Other wise its better to stay in your limits .. as I myself don't like some one to disturbe my privacy..!! There are some things that should remain private.
Well checking out some ones medicine cabinet in bathrooms isn't a big deal but checking some ones personel diaries and collection.... its not good.
You should provide people a little bit privacy.

I live in India(asia)
Well I don't get to watch such Tv shows from USA here ..!!
But yes I do watch cribs in MTV its good...
And I have seen once an Indian show in which interior decorators converted a garage in a 5 star hotel room ...that was amaizing.. But very costly..
I would rather like to decorate a house with things lesser in cost and yes decorating your house with gifted items is like heaven... It even includes once feelings and memories.. Like having photoframes in your house of your old friends..!! and some show peices which belongs to different places of the world.

When my daughter was living at home, she watched Cribs so I got to see a few episodes. Amazing what these celebrities have in their homes. As for gifts, I am sentimental about some, that is a whole other discussion haha. Thanks for responding.

Well, I agree that taking a tour of someone's house is totally fun. I really enjoy seeing what someone has done to personalize and decorate their space. Occasionally, I turn on the tv shows that rearrange someone's belongings to create a new look. Do you get USA tv programs where you are?
I would never read a diary...

When I'm in another persons house I don't snoop around. I observe what I see from where I sit. I don't go around and open things that aren't mine to check out or look into. If there is trouble outside the house and someone's fighting we look who it is but I don't think it's snooping because we are just being aware of whats happening around us to keep ourselves safe. I think in a traffic accident we look when we pass just to see if we can do anything to help or maybe if we know if we know who was caught in the accident. We need to be aware of things around us. I don't think I call it snooping on my side. The ones opening other peoples things are the ones snooping ot the ones looking at other peoples room when they turn behind their backs thats snooping..:)

Now, I hope everyone who reads this discussion doesn't think I am/was of these incorrigble snoops that go crazy looking through stuff in someone's home. And I do not crawl into dumpsters or tear open my neighbor's trash bags haha. I just got this flash of seeing someone scurrying around looking into everything while their host is out of the room - like those detective movies!Oh, and they just announced another "rubberneck" delay on the local highway...lots of helpful folks out there (just kidding!).
Thanks for the response. Whit

I can be nosey. I'm terrible when it comes to presents around Christmas and my birthday. I just like knowing what's going on. Sometimes my curiousity really doesn't bother me and I could care less about what is going on, but other times, I just have to know so I snoop.

I think perhaps I may be a little more nosey when I have less going on in my life. You know those times when I may jokingly say "I have no life". Then when life picks up and gets busy again, I have less attention remaining to give to what's going on outside. So I can see where curiousity ebbs and flows.

I would not consider myself a snoop, and never go into things that are not public, Like I would pick up a magazine to see what one it is if it were lying on a coffee table but do not go through personal belongings of any one, and the reason I do not do this is because I would be horrified if some one were to do it to me,If you were to go through any of my cupboards or drawers you would find a big mess as I am not the most tidy person in the world. I have absolutely nothing to hide and do not even worry about someone looking what does bother me is that they will see the mess. As a child I always was curious about what was in other peoples mail. My first job I ever had in a business was working in the mail room. I assure you you unopened mail is very safe with me.

I must admit I do snoop a little at my mother in laws and when I was a kid i use to snoop at the peoples houses where I baby sat. But i Would never go through someones trash and stuff like that!!!I look out my window and see whats going on and I'm curious about what happens at the school like when there are fights and stuff like that but I think that is just human nature!!

I am not a bit nosey. Never have been and maybe because my mother was not either. I won't snoop in my kid's homes or a friend's house. I like my privacy so respect others also.
I am, however, guilty of rubberneckig at traffic accidents or house fires. Don't want to see blood and guts but am curious to see who is on the accident scene or fire. I know alot of police officers in our area because I work for the "city" and know alot of firefighters because our daughter is one. I wouldn't expect anyone to stop their job and chat but am nosey in that respect.
I'll look outside and most often it's to see what is going on with the weather. Is it raining or dry or is it snowing. If I hear loud noises will also look out. Most often it's a truck of some sort going up the street.
Haven't ever looked in a dumpster or looked through a neighbor's trash. Guess I am boring...lol
