As people may already know, Maharishi has passed away on the 6th of February, at his home in Vlodrop, in the Netherlands.
He was the founder of the Transcendental Meditation Movement and famously counted people like the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and Clint Eastwood among his disciples.
He's had his fair share of controversy (which I believe were attempts at discrediting him) and set up a financial empire around a technique that he didn't invent but was put in charge of bringing to the world in general and the West in particular. Primarily trained as a physicist, Maharishi and his promotion of transcendental meditation has allowed people to truly reach for that part of the divine which would otherwise remain occulted and repressed by the materialistic pursuits we are encased in and repressed by in the West. A simple technique: to repeat a mantra for twenty minutes twice a day, in order to achieve deep rest and restore energy, for a clear and sharp mind. The results of the practise of TM are small for now but he planted the seed of something which I believe will make the difference in the long term...
Jai Guru Dev.
And thank you.
