Wow! Now even responses towards threads for help are being deleted.

Smooth people... really smooth -_- Just got it confirmed that my response to help a friend with a computer issue got deleted. Thanks. -_- I don't even understand why it was deleted as it violated none of the rules and was on topic. This is rather discouraging in my view. I mean some members get pummeled for having opinions and even to the point of getting their responses/discussions deleted. Now, for helping another member, we could face the same consequences. Nice message. -_-

Strange. I was given the impression, by crash, the admin didn't just delete things just because some other member reported it. Maybe they (admin) felt it violated the rules somehow. This is purely a guess, but maybe it was because you were trying to help another member on here in a discussion rather than helping them in private. Who knows? This place really confuses me sometimes. :P

I can see no reason why they'd want something like that to be done via PM. In a discussion a computer problem I'll bet whatever advice Pro had would have possible been helpful for others besides the person who had asked the question. It's not like it was a top-secret topic! Annie

I think that if ones discussion or response is in accordance with myLot TOS then in only one case it can get deleted and it is when someone else violates TOS in your discussion or by commenting in one of your response . This is unfair though but this has also happened to be before and I wander when myLot team will realize that this is really not fair for the the one who is following the guidelines and they should deal with the one directly who violated the guidelines.

The discussion didn't violate TOS and neither did my response. Someone had a computer problem, I responded. 24hrs later, my response was removed. All it had was some steps that may not have been tried.

Hello Progamer, I'm sorry to hear that your aid to another member was 'shot down'. How silly! There are so many clichés: "No good deed goes unturned", and the like -- it remains an example of the absurd. At the very least, I hope that the member benefitted from your advice before the response/discussion was deleted. Funny, I thought that we lived in the "Land of the Free", and not "The Land of Censorship". Silly me! I might want to think about checking my atlas.

I like how you put it Luna! I was thinking of that infamous quote. Oh and I second your final comments even more so.

Was it just your response or the discussion that got deleted? This is an instance where I would question myLot for the reason. I know I have received some excellent computer advice here on myLot. BTW I was one of the few users who was able to get a discussion reinstated by rebutting the deletion with facts why is should not have been deleted.

That is what I was wondering too, was it the whole discussion, because maybe someone else had written something that was against the TOS. I also have benefited from advice here about computers, progamer being one who had given me advice, so I can't see how it would get deleted.

That seems so unfair, progamer! Did you contact admin to ask why the thread was deleted? I've been here for a year now, and I still do not understand some of the workings of myLot.Sorry your response was deleted.

Well I've not contacted them due to past communication (or large lack thereof). But you know World, I am complaining about this, but I'll not stop being me on here. I do have some more catching up to do since I took another long break from lot, but when I get resettled and regrouped I'll continue. The infamous quote "I'll be back." =3

Hey friend, I understand what you are talking about because it has happened to me not once not twice. I once posted a thread about bar stools and it got deleted, another one about underwear it got deleted, i think this is just unfair. Now like yours, what rule did you violete or is someone else who posted a bad response that lead to its deletion? Where is Crash now to help us here? I think they should delete the response only instead of the whole discussion.

I hope that wasn't my computer issue I had a week ago or so. I think you resp0onded to that. I had better check. Gee, if they are deleting responses to discussions asking for help, then half our possible discussions are gone. I was thinking of sending out a request for help with lentil recipes, maybe I shouldn't! I just checked. Your response is still there.

Well at least some are staying up, and I do appreciate you going to check your thread. The evidence is there that I am helpful and kind...but I'm starting to think someone might be out to "erase" that. -_-

All you did was say thanks? I know some people who reply 'thanks' to every single thread get deleted, but just this one time? I mean who would think to report that? Or maybe no one did, mylot just went nuts?! That is pathetic. Can I give you a poem that might cheer you up? Don't kiss your honey When your nose is runny You may think it's funny But it's snot. I really should have put that in your Pro's free for all, but maybe this will cheer you up now. : )

No, I gave help to the thread. I was saying "thanks" sarcastically just in general reaction to the response deletion. And yes that does fit in to the free-for-all more than this thread! XD

I asked crash why when I went to print out a discussion I had viewed the previous evening(Being new to mylot)it was gone. The thing is it was so uplifting and inspiring..on a guys experiene re:God...nothing anyone could take offence at I feel..hey but thats just how I feel..lol..the article was no longer there.Crash explained sometimes when a responce is deleted, the other responces following also are deleted.Made sense sorta...only problem being the discussion had first been posted something like three months prior. The responce I wished to print was posted 5 days prior to my wishing to print it.And then there is the fact in all there were only three responces mine, and the previous two, mine being the last thanking the guy for his inspiration.Must add I took a peek once again re:crash discussion and my question to him was no longer there.I may be incorrect here, perhaps I just coulden't find it in all fairness.Do think this delete issue has to be addressed further..there are way to many members with very different views, and lets face it,you can please some of the people some of the time kind of thing. It may work more efficiently if the members were not able to have access to delete option. Then at least we would know who was responsible, allowing one to then take up with mylot team. One of the first Discussions I responded to the woman was cooking up a mighty storm..religion..lol...and I could see how someone could take offence at what she had posted.Think she was a satanist or the like,I did not delete, haven't been back to see if it is still there, did respond with a hey,if your o.k. with it that's fine, have a nice day type of thing.Bottom line here, have we become to politicaly correct?Santa can no longer go Ho ho ho,next thing the Easter Bunny will be banned for littering.

I would check that out with mylot and ask them why it was deleted. If it didn't violate any of the rules which sounds like it didn't, then I would question it.

this is so weird. i am not aware of this problem. i have to check my system for violations as how would you know that you have been deleted? Life always has a way of being a discouraging at best. Nice message. This was indeed a smooth move..really smooth..but they are all slick

Maybe lately there's a bit of a purge going on at myLot. Looks like a few people are complaining about having discussions or responses deleted. I thought that only happened when someone posted dirty discussions or the like. Perhaps there's someone maliciously complaining about posts just for the hell of it.

I think it is not fair. If you are helping a member and it should have been private, what if someone else has the same problem? If that was the reason for the help, well do they want all of you to go to your private message and ask you? If you are like me, you are rather wary of private messages. Not all of them are "I am glad to be your friend" or "Thank you for adding me to your friend list," or "I heard you are a singer, I am too. Could you tell me what songs you like," or stuff like that. Some are "I did not like what you said about ---" so I would rather the help to fix a computer problem would be where all could see it.

I was writing a response the other day, and all of a suddent I was typing in a white screen. The whole post had been deleted. That was a bizarre experience. Also, a certain person did a nasty response in one of my posts under another response directed to that responder. All of a sudden, as I watched, his nasty response dissappeared, but his name is still there as the last responder. That is weird too. Crash S. did actually tell the whole story, if you go back read all of his responses. It is there, you just have to look for it. Shalom~Salaam~Peace
