I went and bought myself a new computer. I won't get it till mid next week... I am hoping I did the right thing.
The one I am using now is from 2000 and it is very inefficient in 2008.
I went through dell outlet - they have excellent prices on their scratch and dent as well as refurbished pc's..
This new one was marked down to just over $300 and I had a coupon for 10% off... and while it is not much computer compared to what is out there today, it is so much more than I currently have and probably more than I actually need for my usage. My son will give me his graphics card so Weeeee!
I do not know what it all means, but here are the specs.

Congratulations on your new computer. Well the thing about computers is new products and better hardware are coming out all the time, which will be out in the high prices. As a result the older items will then drop in prices. This cycle happens continuously and hence for an average user, it is best to only buy a computer when your old can no longer work efficiently. So you did the right thing because if you want the newest items, then you will always be buying new stuff or if you are willing to wait for prices to drop to get the newer items, then you will be waiting forever. So well done.

Since you have had your old computer since 2000 it is time you got a nice new computer. I am really pleased for you and I hope that you will quickly become used to using it. I got my first computer in 1999 and used it until last year. It had Windows 2000 on it then I used a computer with Linux on it for a couple of months.
A few months ago I got my Dell Inspiron laptop and it runs on Windows Vista Premium. When I first got it I was so used to using a mouse I found it difficult to use the touch pad on it. Now I am fine using it and really like the convenience of having a laptop. I hope that you enjoy having your new desktop computer.

Oh ModestahI am so happy for you. I like to hear that people do nice things for themselves. You are deserving! It will be so much fun to have a new computer and learn the new system. You really got a great price, or so it sounds to me. Best of luck with it. If we don't see you on line as much next week, we'll know you are toying with your new computer!

That is great. It is always fun to be getting new stuff, no matter what it is. I am actually hopeing to get new computer or laptop my self in the next few months or so. I think I am leaning towards the laptop. But I guess it will depend on the cost. But I am planing on getting a Dell as well. I think I get a discount through my work there.
