would you ever boycott a product?

Let's say you love a certain product and buy it all the time, but you find out that the company that produces this product is forcing 9 years old to work 12 hours a day in a foreign country to mass produce this product. Would you boycott the product or continue to buy it anyway justifying your position with the fact that even if you stopped buying the products millions of consumers still do so nothing would happen anyway.

L'Oreal make really good beauty products but since I learned they are one of the worst culprits for animal testing, I won't buy anything from them. I'm even iffy about the Body Shop as even though they are supposedly animal cruelty-free, Roddick sold the company to L'Oreal. It's an awful hypocrisy.

It's so disappointing isn't it? It goes against everything they were built on. If you want cruelty free bath and body products, may I suggest visiting www.lush.com Their ethics are uncompromising and I cannot recommend their products highly enough!

If boycotting a product made me feel better because I was taking a stand against something I believe wrong, I'd probably do so, even knowing that in reality my little boycott isn't going to hurt the company one little bit. The bottom line would be whether it would be worth it for you to take that stand. If you could somehow get stores to not carry the product, the boycott would carry a lot of weight. A good boycott needs a lot of publicity. Stir the fires of the consumers. Can you do that? You have a lot of connections.

I think I just did back in Bangkok. I got to watch "Blood Diamond" featuring children soldiers and even enslaving people to find diamonds who get a dollar or two in return. My boyfriend and I visited a gem house and I asked the saleslady where the diamonds came from. When she said "South Africa" I told my boyfriend not to buy me the ring there.

The fact that they are forcing these children would make me not consider buying it and I would not, because I would consider it being produced by slave labor since it will also be known that the children may not be receiving wages or not enough to live on or may be forced to work because of payment to ursurers. So my decision on not buying would not be based on that they are nine years old, but that they were forced to work under duress and that slavery is supposed to be illegal.

Nine-year-old kids being forced to work for 12 hours? That's terrible. In that situation sure I would boycott the product. Teach those bast_rds a lesson in workers' rights.

Oh my I would certainly not buy their product if thats how they do it. I love kids and I don't want them to be abused like this. It is against the law they should be closed down and put to prison and have them pay this child laborers for their labor. The government should do something about it.

I'm not really sure what I would do. I may stop buying the product if I have a strong opinion about it even though nothing would change or make a difference. I would more than likely stop because it just isn't fair to buy things when someone else really isn't getting rewarded for their hard work, no matter what age they are.
