I am in rural eastern canada and we get some real nasty weather here in the winter. It has been winter since early december and I know we still have another 6 weeks at LEAST to go before there is some spring relief.
It is difficult to go anywhere due to bad roads and unreliable transportation. I basically get out to stock up food and get back here.
But since it has been so cold the pond in the woods here has frozen over and we have been skating on it.
It is so refreshing to be in the middle of nowhere with noone gawking at me and just skate around.
Makes me feel glad it is winter and hope for more cold days.
So what do you do to shake winter blahs?

We've had a fairly mild winter (well not much snow, anyway) but I am still SO READY for spring to get here. The only way for me to shake the winter blahs is to tune it out- by reading, watching TV or just having fun spending time with my kids. I guess we go out to dinner a lot more in the winter, so that is nice.
Anyway, your ice skating sounds fun! I haven't done that in years!

Gosh I rarely eat out ever. Maybe a couple times a year really! LOL That would be awesome for us to do. HEHE

This time of the year with precious little sunshine, and suffering with the Winter blues or blahs I go for long country walks to get the sunlight and the fresh air. I find it invigorating, refreshing and for the first time in years I actually feel happy, I suffer with depression too and it's made a difference to my wellbeing. I love the outdoors, trouble is my feet don't like the walking even if my body and mind is willing. Enjoy your skating!

I have suffered from depression in the past and I always feel it lurking around the corner during the winter. I also have claustrophobia so I can feel closed it after long period of time in here.
We went for a really nice walk here after supper today. It was sunny and mild for the first time in months and we could have just had a sweater on. It made me feel so good. Thanks

I changed my avatar photo to a flower to get some feelings of spring. I also lay in the sun that comes through a window in the house.
I try to keep up the knowledge that summer will be her soon.

How do I shake the winter blahs? I avoid eastern Canada! LOL! Just kidding!
Here in Oklahoma, winter is a hit or miss thing. Right now, it's 28, clear and sunny and may hit 60 by tomorrow afternoon, then we're due for snow and low 30s for a few days. What really causes the blahs for us is being unable to plan something to do more than a day or so in advance. So the best way to beat the blahs is to make sure there is always a backup plan. I make sure there is popcorn to pop and videos ready to watch in case the weather turns or, as is often the case, it gets too windy to go outside without carrying an anchor.
I'd love to be able to go out and skate on the pond next door. It just doesn't get cold enough for a long enough time to do that.
