Correct Usage of tense in a compound sentence

Could you please clarify which of the following usage is grammatically wrong: 1. I have been cooking since 10 AM and no one offered me help. 2. I had been cooking since 10 Am and no one offered me help.

I'm not an expert so this is just my opinion: To me the first one is wrong as it should say I have been cooking since 10am and no one has offered me help - as in the present tense. The second one looks ok. There again some grammatical whizz will possibly come along and tell you different :-)
