Sunburn

We get sunburned when our skin is overexposed to the UV rays from the scorching sun. Other sources of UV rays are welding arcs and tanning lamps. Sunburn can even cause skin cancer. Sunbrun should never be taken lightly (like what most of us do) because it may even lead to death or permanent disability. Remember that the skin is the largest organ of the human body. Fair people are at greater risk as compared to dark people. One symptom of sunburn is that the skin becomes red and tender and is warm to the touch. After some hours or days, blisters may develop or appear on the skin. All these may be followed by peeling of the skin after few days. Others experience other symptoms like fever, chills, flu, nausea, vomiting, rashes and others. Some remedies are as follows: a. Apply aloe vera or vinegar on the affected skin. This will help stop inflammation and pain. b. Rub mustard oil on the affected area and allow to dry. This will help take out the heat from the skin. c. Cut fresh cucumber slices and rub them on the affected area. d. Before taking a bath, add some baking powder to the bath water. This will help to soothe the burnt skin.
