In recent times, sledging on the field has increased especially against the teams that are performing well and posing stiff challenge to teams which consider themselves as masters in the game. In cricket we are witnessing this every other day. Provocating the other and disturbing concentration to the extreme is one ploy deployed.Many say that sledging is common.But it should be within the limits and funny and a little bit teasing. But the recent trends show that winning is all that matters- even by unfair means and negative pressure tactics. Once this tendency is noticed in a team, time would not be far off when winning is not so a winning thing.It becomes cheating on part of one team that does it. Matches played with sportmanship and fair fighting would not only be of interest to fans whose patronage is worth billions but also would be gratifying to those playing. If winning is all that matters-yes, one need not play cricket as per rules but one's own way in one's own backyard and enjoy.
