programming a new factory keyless entry remote for a1991 bmw 850i

can anyone help with step by step instructions? dealer says it will have to be put on some machine to program,other techs are not sure

Try a site like http://www.factorykeylessremotes.com/PROGRAMMING.html. I have done this before and the instructions are usually good and easy to follow.
