Do you think the world would be a much better or a much worse place to be in if all the technology we have at our finger tips were invented 100 years earlier? For example, imagine if you would please living in the year 1908 and todays date is February 29th, 1908 everything has been invented that we use in 2008, everything has been brought forward 100 years What would the impact be? How different do you think we would be if were living in 1908 instead of 2008. Would the internet for example stop World War 1 and 2 which obviously haven't happened yet. Would the internet stop the Titanic sinking, which didn't happen till 1912 Can you think whether technology of today would have changed us for the better if it had been around exactly 100 years today?

I think that if we had all of the technology 100 years ago that we have today a lot more things would have been improved in our everyday lives right now..and like you said i don't really think that it would have been as easy for the titanic to sink like it did way back when...I think that everyone would have been alot better off if we would have had everything we have right now a hundred years ago because in all honesty we have it good now...

Thank you for your response, definitely food for thought isn't it. Makes you wonder what technology will be like 100 years from now

technology brings a lot of good things for human living, if our today's technology was invented way back 1900s everything now will not be the same. although i don't think the technology could prevent the happening of world war no matter how great our technology was, the war was because of the greed people of different nation and has nothing to do with the technology. i guess if technology was present at the time of world war it would furthermore do harm to our world then, the invention of time bomb and missile would be better and they could invent something that could erase one country in a swift of hand. the war will be worst and progressive country will surely be a titan since they can have all the resources for technology to be at their sides.

Geez, I don't think things are that simple. But just for the sake of discussion, if you bring the technologies available today and dump it 100 years ago, the people there and then would not be able to make any head or tail of it. Technologies too advanced for their time will be disregarded and ignored. Only the rich and powerful might utilize them and you know what happens when the rich and powerful get even more rich and powerful. I really don't think we need more powerful mafias. It is quite an open secret that there are technologies and products already available today but not yet available on the market. Some companies "store" them to release them in the future - simply because their analysis predict that consumers are not ready for them. If they bring out the products now, they are gonna be flops. On another note, I still can't be sure if technology really helped humans. A part of me feels that the world will be a much better place in better aspects if technology has not been developed.

Good grief little brother I have tried to figure this out but it is just making my head whirl! Maybe certain things woukld never have happened with the modern technology but then again other things may have happened that were even worse! Does that make sense? Love and Hugs xxx

No I think it would have been worse and today would even be worse than it already is. Our Technology is killing us now. Look what it has done to our Global Warming. Look how our Earth is erupting. All the terrible things that are happening and killing people. Like floods and tornadoes and aids and cancer and so forth. These things have happened because of our technology. Look at all the stuff we are putting into space, satalites. This is not normal. That is not how our existance was meant to be. We are slowly destroying our universe with technology.

well I haven't been about for 100 years , not far off it though , when I was wee we had tilly lamps and outside toilets , we had no hot water and we had to go down the back garden to the outside toilet , we had no TV and we played outside all the time ( we had great fun and were a lot healthier than kids of today). I don't think it would have made any difference pal and maybe for my 100th birthday I will be able to have a trip to the moon :) xx

At some point it may be good experience to go back in time. I don't think that we would be able to change history just because of technology. War is not related to technology, as we can see it today. War is related to human awareness and we have long way to go... Titanic? maybe would be build better, maybe wouldn't sink... It is all about maybe. many years ago, when in grade school, our teacher told us about world in 2000, we supposed to fly in flying cars and live under the water city... Things are better and worst today than 100 years ago. 100 years ago people used to have more privacy and more time with the family...

I think technology would have had a tremendous impact upon the world if all of the knowledge that we now have at our disposal were present then, wolfie. I can't say that those wars would have been prevented, but they would certainly have been fought much differently. I would have loved to have some of today's technology around when I was growing up during the 50's and 60's.

Wow, what a great discussion! I can see that people would be living longer because they would have had better medical care and medicine. If they had a navigation system and radar on the Titanic, I suppose it could have avoided disaster. But I don't know if it would have changed us for the better. Maybe by 2008 the world would be destroyed because of pollution or global warming. That too, would have come sooner. What I think would be better would be to skip the past 50 years entirely and go right into energy and environmental conservation so our world could be a healthier place to live today.

I have to say that your disscussion really got me thinking lol!! I guess maybe it would have prevented a lot of man made disasters from happening, but at the same time I think that it would have made a lot more countries and people a lot more powerful and destructive.
