Education systems are going leaps and bounds in methodologies due to the advancement of IT.
The question today is whether there would be a future of the online education business surpassing that of the traditional colleges. Many countries are now seriously looking into distance learning and online learning due to the escalating costs involve in education.
What is your personal view on this issue?

I think distance learning has a time and place - I went back to college a couple years ago for a few semesters and I took as many classes as possible online - it was just much easier for me juggling work, son, church, and school. However, the classes I did take on site were tremendous and I very much enjoyed the interaction with other students even though in most I was old enough to be most of the class's mother.

Yes, faith, you have your point here. I have attended colleges and schools all my life. Online education is new to me, only a year old. But I am beginning to enjoy it.
I can see all the benefits of cost savings in fees, transportation, accomodation and time as well. Best of all, I can both work and study at the same time.

I really liked the one semester I had 2 online and 2 on campus - I had the freedom with the online classes but the social interaction with the on campus. It was great because one of the on site classes was very very small and out of 9 students 4 of us were also taking either one or both of the online classes I was taking - we compared notes and tests results on all the classes which helped.

I think that it is great that such technologies exist and for the non traditional student these are quite the good thing. They may also help with some courses that are not offered at a particular college or university.
However to replace traditional colleges would be a bad thing I fear as traditional colleges teach much more than book knowledge as they teach personal communication and social interaction for many students who come from other countries, other states and from small towns.

nothing beats personalize guidance in any lifetime but because of the popular use of technologies , these would greatly aid us in our learning. i would believe that the children should be personally taught with the help of IT tools and i would believe for us adults, learning from the net is a very cool design to save on time and gasoline.I am all for it just as long it's going to be use as a tool.
