Have you ever been typed for bone marrow (not sure typed is the correct term) Have you ever donated bone marrow? would you? would it depend on if the recipient is a family member or friend - or would you donate to a complete stranger? If you donated and did not know the person would you like them to know who you are or would you like to keep it annonymous?

I haven't been typed for bone marrow, but if I had a family member, or even a friend that needed a donation, I would be happy to donate. I would also donate to a stranger, but I'd have to be typed first, so it's not likely to happen. I wouldn't care either way if they knew who I was or not.

I was tested many years ago when a child in our community needed a desperate transplant. my father ended up with leukemia from a mylo prolific blood disorder - I was glad to have already been tested, just in case it got to the point that he would need a transplant we would readily know if I was a match. otherwise I would say I am much like you in this regards

I had my blood tested for this once during a bone marrow drive while I was in the Marine Corps some time ago. I would most definitely donate to anyone that needed it. It wouldn't matter if it was family or a stranger, one person's life is no more worthy than another. I've moved a dozen times or more since then, and I've tried to find the marrow registry online to update my information, but I've never been able to. I hope the system today is better than it was then.

I would donate if someone asked me to. I have been tested once for a total stranger but I wasnt a match. For a family member or a close friend I would not think twice even for organs that I can donate like kidney or something like that.
