Rolling in Dough

When making a pizza do you: roll out your dough or hand press your dough or machine press your dough or spin your dough or toss your dough ? I find that my dough works a lot better if I do a small hand pressing and let it set for a half hour before I continue. I will pick it up and let its weight pull it out some (working my hands around and around the perimeter) then putting it back on my baking stone to press out the rest of the way, using the heals of my hands, and going around and around.

I haven't done it yet, but I started a discussion earlier today about how to make your own pizza dough, thinking I might want to try it. I'll be following this discussion to get more input, though!

I hope your dough and pizza came out deliciously!

I've always hand-pressed the dough. Lately, though, I have been doing extra kneading and throw/spinning before finishing with my usual hand-spreading. My hands just get too tired to push the dough around the whole pan every time now. :)

I almost always press it out with my hands. I don't like rolling things about and having more stuff to clean up plus it doesn't seem to work as well. I never think to toss it but I'd probably just make a mess of it :)

I use a bread maker to knead the dough and then hand roll it out to make it nice and thin. I like a little yeast in my dough so the thinner the better (it's going to rise a little). Thanks Zelo

we have a bread maker and when we have pizza my hubby just rolls it with a rolling pin...we love homemade pizza and we have it a couple of times per month :-)

It's been years since I made a homemade pizza but we always hand pressed ours into a pan. It seemed like it got a little more even when I did it that way!
