Time to hide the car keys!

My 20 year old stepson went and got his driver's license today. He has no job and no car of his own. He sure won't be driving my car. He thinks that having his license will make it easier for him to find a job. How, when he doesn't have a car? And doesn't seem to have any intention of leaving the house to look for one?

I agree that you should hide the car keys and keep them hidden, even under lock and key. Moreover, I'd put a locking device on the car and/or a good alarm system, lol, as lots of idle youngsters know how to hot wire a car. 20 years old, no job, and not looking for one? What is he, a Breathairian?

Is Brethairian like a lazy schmuck? Then yes.

According to the Breathairian Instituted of America, a true Breatharian, as a result of abstaining from food and drink somehow morphs into a being whose blood is a combination of several precious metals including Gold and Platinum. Presumably such a richly endowed indvidual would not need a job to survive. Of course there are many who believe this to be rubbish, but just in case, it seems to me that the perfect solution would be to give him a one-way ticket to Florida. :-)

My daughter is 16 and she just finished drivers education. We let her drive our truck sometimes when we are with her so she can get practice. She does have a job already though. We have to take her to get her license next month. I am leary to lend my vehicle out also. I won't lend ours to her when she has a license. She is working to buy her own car.

Well, I wish her the best of luck in getting her license. I know that she is working to get herself a first vehicle. I have my own vehicle to get around. My license expires on my birth date of 2012. My vehicle registration expires in less than six months, possibly five. I can renew my license and registration online.

i agree with you whole-heartedly... i also won't let him drive my car... if he wants to drive a car, then he had to earn it... not using yours... good luck in hiding your car keys and have a nice day...

Well, he needs to get a car and a job and then work on getting out on his own or helping around the house. He needs to learn that he is 20 years old and not a baby anymore.

It would be nice if he learned that we aren't always going to be there to feed him and bail him out of everything. He needs to learn some responsibility.

Yeah, or otherwise you would consider that your vehicle would be stolen by someone, even your stepson. I always keep my vehicle locked up so that it will not be stolen. If your vehicle is stolen, report to police immediately. And then police will have all information typed into the system.
