Front Loaders (washing machines)

When I go to the laundry mat I like to use those triple loader heavy duty industrial sized washing machines - that are front load. I find them more economical and I think they clean the clothing better.
However! it seems that no sooner do I start the machine up (and it locks down) I find another item that was supposed to go into THAT load!
Which really rots if the only load left to start is the whites and I am going to use bleach, so the renegade article of clothing must come home with me dirty.
I was wondering, for those who have a front loader at home - if the machine goes off balance, what can you do? you can not very well open it to rearrange the clothing and have all the water pour out at you...
Or do front loaders not go off balance because of the gravity factor?

I LOVE those washing machines. I wish I had a laundromat nearby that had one! As it is I have a king size quilt that I have to cram in my washing machine that is plenty big, just not big enough for that quilt. I don't even bother anymore, I just hang it out on the line and let it get a few days of heavy rain and then when it's dry I use a lint brush on it. It's not like I pee all over it, vomit on it or spill food on it. I cover up with it and my kitties get hair on it. That's all.

I have only had my front loader for a couple of months and I don't think it can get unbalanced. If I'm wrong, will someone correct me. The only time I have actually see it make a complete spin is when it is doing the spin cycle.
