Cupcake sandwiches

This is NOT a recipe! I'm not saying HOW to make a cupcake just how to EAT one! This is a really neat trick I learned at my son's preschool birthday party yesterday. Cupcakes piled with frosting can be messy to eat and you end up eating the bottom half of the cupcake without any frosting. Making a cupcake sandwich solves both problems. You take your cupcake and break or cut the bottom half off and place it crumb side down ON TOP of the frosting! It's so easy and obvious yet I'd never thought of it. Then the frosting is all in the middle so you can hold it without getting frosting all over and every bite has frosting in it.

WHOA!! that is a good idea! lol i bet it was the teacher that showed them that wasn't it ? lol.that could get messy depending on how many kids are there.. how do you clean 27 kids fingers before they touch anything to get it sticky anyways!!?? lol!!

Nope it wasn't the teachers either even with all their years of teaching! A mom runs her own bakery and she's the one that showed them. And it's surprisingly easy to get a dozen 3 1/2-5 yer olds to wash up...at leas they made it look that way...when it was time the teacher just told them all to wash there hands and they all lined up at the sink and washed. Same thing when they were done eating!

Good idea! Most kids end up eating the top with all the icing and then don't want the rest so this makes a lot of sense!

Oh yeah! That's the other problem this trick solves! All 12 kids there ate the ENTIRE cupcake instead of just the top half.

Huh... I thought everyone did that. If not you have a frosting mess all over... sometimes I will just take off the bottom... eat that and then eat the top (so there is not a bite so big I can't get it in my mouth)... but either way... I wish I was still able to eat them! Thanks a ton! Zelo

Now that is a neat idea, I wonder why we didn't think of it years ago. Thanks. I knew kids were learning things in school.

That is such a brilliant idea! I wonder why nobody thought of it before. A definite mess saver.

well isn't that the cleverest of ideas? makes it like a layered cake - only without the frosting on top, hehe. everyone likes cupcakes for kids - as they are individual servings and all, but I always felt they were messy and often times one is too much for the kid being served - so I made cakes.... this is a good idea, cupcake sandwiches, thanks for sharing.
