Do you order a soda or a pop?

Different areas of the country order a pop or a soda. Maybe you grew up asking for pop and ended up saying soda. Which are you? Or have you resorted to asking for cola?

I grew up where they say pop. About 4 years ago I moved to a different state and you get looked at like you have 2 heads if you say pop. So, now I say soda.

I generally call it soda, I think. I've heard that different areas call it different names, but I can't remember what area calls it what.

i always grew up saying soda but normally i ask for pepsi and if they don't then i ask what kind of soda they have. i have never used pop or anything. i have a friend that calls it pop and it used to sound so funny when we first started hanging out.

Now I useally say pop(s) when I order food and want some, but one day I was at McDonalds and ordered a softdrink. My aunt(who is the same age as me) said, "Where are you" and laughed.

I'm on the east coast. In Maryland. We never say pop. Sounds weird. But we do say soda. If I'm in a resturant the waitress usually will ask what kind of beverage do you want and if we say soda then we just tell what kind we want. I noticed further south I've gone, they say pop sometimes.

In Colorado I always said soda. Here in Mississippi when I say soda, I get a funny look. So now I usually say a coke. Just sounds wierd to say pop. LOL
