A student is facing expulsion from Ryerson University in Toronto Ontario Canada for cheating. His crime? He managed a facebook group which was supposedly designed as a online study group. Chris Avenir the accused, claims "This isn't any different from any library study groups or peer tutoring that has been happening". He faces 147 counts of academic misconduct one for running the group and one for each of the 146 other students involved. None of the other students who belonged to the group face disciplinary actions, Avnir faces them alone. Apparently the University has little, if any, solid proof that actual answers were being passed around, just tips on how to solve problems and get at answers, if this is the case is it really any different then any other study group?

OMG That is ridiculous I don't think they would be that freakin stupid to share actual answers come on there would be proof. If they were going to share answers then don't you think they would do it privately in person so there isn't anything in writing to prove it??? Some people are just plain retarded LOL

What I don't get is if the University does have proof, why is he the only one facing disciplinary action, and worse still why is he being disciplined for what the others in the group reportedly did and not just for what he did. Sure he can face discipline if people abused the group being as he was the moderator, but how can he face disciplinary actions for all of the students who joined (regardless of if they participated in any alleged cheating activity or not) but no one else gets nailed for it.
