Growing aubergines for the first time

I bought some aubergine seedlings at the market today & I'm excited as i've never grown them before. It's a little early still & I'm concerned about frost, but I thought I'd dive in there as last year they sold them all & I couldn't get any. But aubergines aren't included in my veggie bible, so I wondered if anyone could help me with growing tips. My understanding is that they grow like tomatoes and like the same conditions. Is that true? I hope so, as our tomatoes go wild here! Thanks.
