Candles seem to be ever increasing in popularity; they come in all sorts of shapes, sizes, perfumed and unperfumed, beeswax or paraffin wax... the list goes on. I have several candles around my home. I have sconces either side of the chimney breast, each with two church pillar candles in, two free-standing, tall candle holders, one each side of my hearth, each holding one church pillar candle. That's in my living room. Then I have two sconces in my dining room, each holding one church pillar candle and a freestanding, black iron holder standing on the table by the phone, that too holding a church pillar. Then I have various tea light holders, a large, glass container with pebbles in the bottom, in which you stand a candle, and a few ordinary candlesticks, one with Pooh Bear on it. Sometimes, I'll burn perfumed candles, my favourite scents being lavender and pine. So do you like to have lots of candles in your home, and if so, are they perfumed or unperfumed, coloured or white? What are your favourites? I just love candles, especially in Gothic type holders. They make the place so cosy and warm feeling.

I do love candles sweetheart but don't tend to burn them too often because of the dangers entailed with children and the cat! I love big square candles and also have small tealight holders as well as scented candles in glass holders! The scented ones we use most are lavender bu I love many others espescially, rose, cinammon, apple, strwberry , in fact so many I can't list them all! I would love to be able to have so many candles going as I think they give a really relaxing atmosphere! xxx

That's where I'm lucky I guess. I no longer have any children at home, and no pets either, so I don't really have to worry to much. However, I do treat candles with respect, as I know they can be highly dangerous at the best of times. I don't mind leaving the one in the deep, glass container with pebbles for a while, or the tealights enclosed in deep pots with stars and moons cut out of them, but all others are constantly in my sight. There are some great perfumes out there. I love pine, lavender, rose, jasmine, and musk perfumes, and very often dress my own candles... it's cheaper that way. lol. Brightest Blessings, my dear friend. xxx

I love candles and have tons of them, in fact I sold them for a while, a company called Party Lite. At any rate, I gathered many of my candles from there. You are right, they sure can cozy up a room. I mostly use scented candles, those are my favorites. I also have so many different kind of holders, it would take to long to list. Enjoy your candles Darkwing, I will surely enjoy mine.

I see you're a true collector and lover of candles. I wanted to get into making them, like my friend does, but I have so many projects going at the moment that I wouldn't be able to give much time to it, so I guess maybe, later. There are so many different ones available that I can make do at the moment. I like the perfumed ones but my tradition tends to guide me to buy ordinary ones and annoint them myself, with oils. It has the same effect, and this way I can make them more personal to me. I don't often use scented ones in the sconces, but they're very handy when the power goes off or when I want a nice, cosy evening by a log fire. Brightest Blessings and thank you for your contribution.

Thanks for the Best Response, Darkwing. Now you mentioned several times, on how you dress your own candles with scented oil, what is that all about? I always just buy mine, my sister inlaw makes her. But I do not think I ever heard her mention dressing her candles. Interesting. Have a wonderful day, again thanks.

I'm pagan, my friend, and we have a habit of dressing our candles. We mix a little base oil, or baby oil with a few drops of whichever essential oils we prefer the smell of, and rub it into the candle, then after we've lit it, we put a few drops of essential oil in the top. Be careful if you do this, that the candle doesn't flare up though... add the drops one at a time. A friend of mine makes his own candles, and I'd love to make my own, but I have so many other projects going that I don't seem to find the time. Someday, maybe. You're most welcome to BR, and thank you also for your contributions to this discussion. Brightest Blessings.
