Sitting here in tears...

As a lot of people know from my posts; my little (well, younger) brother is in Iraq right now. He has been corresponding with my niece's first grade class. Well, quite a few newspapers have picked up on this and have run stories about it. I did a Google search and found a few of them. For those of you who know people who have been sent off to war also know that this can be a very emotional time. Anyway I just wanted to share one of the articles. I hope it works. http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/L/LA_TREASURES_FROM_HOME_LAOL-?SITE=LAMON&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT Joey is obviously my brother. I can't figure out how to make it a link. When I preview it you have to copy and paste the address to be able to view it.

My brother was over there until he got a medical discharge. I understand the worry and missing someone. It is very hard, because you dont know whats going on there. And anything can happen. The article is very sweet. Thats nice that the class will send him emails and things. I'm sure it helps your brother pass the time. I hope your brother will be safe-big hugs.

Yeah, it's hard because we all worry. It seems to be especially hard on my dad. My brother was supposed to get out but couldn't because of the stop-loss. He came back from Afghanistan and a few months later they sent him to Iraq. Thank you.

I am glad I took the time to read the news article. It brought tears to my eyes, when he comes home and doesn't go to the school to meet these kids, I would be heart broken. I think that teacher should talk to the principal to have her class meet in the gym so they can meet him. Your brother, your family, his family, and his unit are in my prayers for a safe home coming.

My brother will go to the school to see the children, that is just the type of guy he is. We are very proud of him...worried, but proud. Thanks so much.

Aw, that's so sweet. I'm glad that your brother is able to make such an impact on those kids. Even though I don't know him, I know it's an emotional time, and it almost brought me to tears. I wish you and your brother the best of luck.

Thanks. This really seems to be a positive thing for both my brother and my niece and her class. He laughingly calls it his "15 minutes of fame".
