They make a special spray just for this purpose. I forget what its called, but they sell it at MOST pet stores (not the pet isle of your grocery store, an actual pet store).

I shampoo my carpet also but do not have a dog smell in it. I have a Pomeranian that I have had for ten years. I always use bissell carptet cleaner. I also use febreeze on my carpet sometimes too. It could be the kind of carpet cleaner you are using or it could be that your shampooer isn't picking up all of the water very well and that will leave a stale smell also.

I just went and bought arm and hammer carpet cleaner to get dog smells out.. I think I will try that and if it don't help than I am going to say it's time for a new carpet this one has been here for many years.. Before I moved here 4 years ago my sister lived here for a few and she really never took care of the carpet.. she did have animals in the home as well.. I am just hoping this does work... I also sure febreeze on my carpet as well.. It does make it smell 10 times better... I just don't ever day though cause with the carpet I have which is huge I can go threw one bottle in 2 days... thank you so much for your help..

Yeah we were suppose to get the carpet replaced when we moved in 3 years ago but it never happened.. My landlord just never got around to doing it or buying it.. I think i will ask him about it and hopefully over the summer when it's warm we can lay down a new carpet.. I don't know if they piddled on it or not.. It just started smelling... Thanks for your reply.

I would go for getting your carpets steamed cleaned. its veary inexpensive these days. and youll be getting the smell out and all the other stains there might be. so i think it would be worth it:)
