Your friends avatar....

I just changed my avatar for the third time since being a member here.
How do you recognize your mylot friends? Do you recognize them by their avatar or by their screen name? I recognize most of my friends by their avatar, but I recognize about 3 or 4 of them by their screen name since they are always posting discussions.
I think it is kind of hard to recognize about 150 screen names. So how do you recognize your friends?

I'm new here, so I probably would just recognize them as they converse with me in my inbox. I'd also say that screen names and avatars together are the best way to recognize them, especially if they show a picture.

Usually I recognize people through screen names or popularity. Or even the pics I recognize people. But thats basically how it works.I'm good with faces.

Well, most of my friends I know by their avatars. That is how I know some of them when I see a Discussion by them, and some of them I do know by name as well. For me especially when it is someone newer to this site, it makes it easiest if they have an avitar on here I can remember them by. Then later if they want they can change it. I have changed mine before, but I prefer having the picture of me on here the most.

I recognize My Lot friends partly through their avatar and partly through their screen name. Some people have their photo as their avatar others have a different picture of just anything. I thought one of My Lot friends was female but he is male. It may be that a lady has a photo of a man that she likes as her avatar and this sort of thing can happen. I was confused months ago when a group of people all had the same puppy avatar. But I understand why this was now. I agree that screen names that spring to mind are people that post lots of discussions. I can think of one that gets lots of responses to any discussion he posts.

Sometimes I can't recognize some of my friends' new avatars. Sometimes I can recognize them if they have special nicknames or I am quite familiar with them. In fact some time ago a good friend here changed her avatar but I hadn't recognized her for some time. It's quite embarrassing for me.

It's far easier to remember friend's names because with avatars you can change them whenever and how many times you like, with your Mylot user name it always stays the same and you can't change it. So I always recognise my friends names straight away. I have kept my same avatar picture for a long time now because it is the real me and I think it's more personal to know and see the person who you are discussing with.

I'm a mess, I just figured out you changed your avatar after reading this post. I swear sometimes I am slow.
But I have my account set up so that whenever one of my friends starts a discussion, I get notification in my e-mail, so if I get an e-mail from you, you must be a friend lol.
Also, if you are a regular respondent to my discussions, I tend to remember the screen name. I guess if I see it enough times, then I will remember when I see it.

I recognize them by their screen name. I do pick up on some of the avatars but I am fairly new.
One reason that this might work for me is because I have a great gift of remembering names and 2 I don't have very many friends. LOL

I just saw that you gave wolfie the best response but as I like this discussion idea, I hope you won't mind me responding (albeit a little late!).
I must admit that I find it easier to recognise an avatar - I must be one of those people who prefer to 'see' images rather than names.
I have only been here for just over a month but already my 'friends' have changed their avatars more than twice. I find it a little difficult initially but after a couple of days I get used to the new one. As long as I have them as friends and I look at my emails then it won't matter what avatar they have, as these two systems will point me in the right direction.
Thanks for sharing this discussion with us.
