Every few months, I go visit my dad and shop for things I'm unable to buy locally. I'm not real flush with cash these days and life's a bit of a struggle but sometimes you have to spend money to save money ....right? Buying dry cat and dog food in bulk saves me around $30 alone. Imagine my delight when I popped into a hairdressers supply store and found one of my favourite perfumes which is normally selling at around $150 marked down to $59. I grabbed it straight away - then began the self talk: "You can't afford it" "But I won't see it again at this price and it's been ages since I had any of this. The last time it was on special and I bought it was Christmas 92." "It's still more than we can spare" "Nope, this is one of those times when you have to have a treat, I'm buying it" Then the sales person says..."That's 47.20, it's another 20% 0ff".....YAY!! Can you remember the last bargain you got?

Wow... that's wonderful, my dear friend. The last thing I remember was a pretty jacket/cardigan I bought for my daughter-in-law for christmas. It was a wrap one, (no buttons), with a belt tie. It was a kind of mule colour, with gold flecks of thread in it, and it frilled down the front and around the bottom. The cost, £29.99. I really liked this cardigan and it was just her colour, so, I took it to the pay desk. When I arrived at the pay desk, the woman asked me if I wanted to apply for a Bonus Club card. I made sure that this was not a credit card, or anything, and filled in the form. She handed me my card, and a leaflet explaining about the bonuses. Then, she took the cardigan off the hanger, folded it and put it into a bag... she took the ticket to the till and rung up the price, promptly returning to the counter, to ask for £13.00!!! I didn't ask any questions... just paid up and left hurriedly. Brightest Blessings.

That's just what I'm speaking of, how wonderful. Could your mule colour also be desribed as donkey brown? Ordinarily I find brown a very boring colour but I love donkey brown and can wear it with ease. It is a beautiful colour that lends itself to many other shades. I like the sound of the frills too. Good for you darkwing. WooHoo!A couple of years ago I was shopping with dad and looked at handbags as my all purpose one was sadly in need of replacement. I fell in love with a purple drawstring (natch) but couldn't handle the price...$70. The bag was lovely...purple suede like fabric with white embroidery and a chain drawsting. Good quality lining with adequate compartments. I came away from the store and Dad saw the look on my face and said "Go on...you can afford it (he didn't have a clue) ...imagine my surprise when it rang up at half price!! Oh happy day.

Yes, a kind of donkey brown... warm colour. It's a good quality, quite thick cardi as well. Hmmmmmm, the colour purple is quite significant to me. Things are meant to happen, of that I am sure, and your being attracted to that particular bag, was no coincidence my friend. How wonderful, that it was half price. I'll bet you were over the Moon!!! Good old Dad, huh?

Everyone deserves something occasionally, just think of it as a early Easter gift for yourself. I know what you mean about money being tight. We are squeezing our money so tight tight it is squealing. If it hadn't been for the money I made online $65 We wouldn't have internet or phone or cable. I am hoping his work will be starting back up soon enough he worked for a neighbor today and made a few dollars to pay water bill. But as I said you have to do things to make yourself feel special and your right it might be another 16 years before you go that kind of deal again. Hmm, last bargin I bought..Dawn dishsoap this month was only .69 cents. And another time the meat man at the store made a mistake and I got a two pound pack of beef stew meat for only .10 cents. I didn't know if they would actually let me have it at that price or not so I was waiting for her to say something about it and refuse to let me buy it but all she said was, wow, you got a great deal because of the butchers mistake.

Gee that was very well done. Every little bit helps...i wish they would make mistakes more often. It's not like it causes the store any hardship. I don't mean to trivialise your situation but you're lucky to have your other half who is willing to work and lucky to make that much online. It takes me 3 months to make $10 payout and I'm online a minimum of 12 hours a day. I think I would go crazy if I couldn't get online. It keeps me busy and my brain active and so I can't worry about how much trouble I'm in.

I am so happy that you bought that perfume, you deserve it. Thats a nice bargain to get. Have you looked on Ebay for it, sometime you can get a good bargain there. I love getting bargains, I do my best not to pay full price for anything. I will even bargain at the Walmart on stuff. I wanted this particular vacuum, they only had the display model left and it didn't have attachments. I called the manager and bargained with him and got $10 knocked off the price. I had the attachments that fit that vacuum at home, since the one I was replacing was the same brand. You can bargain almost anywhere, all you have to do is ask. Good going with your bargain, now you will be smelling pretty.

That was a good bargain...YAY! I shop at dollar stores a lot and always check the bargain tables. I know the stuff is cheap but why pay ten times the amount when something cheaper does the same job? The only way I've fallen down on this is with pots for plants ...the cheapies get brittle and break apart after a while.

Well I think you deserved to treat yourself sweety and I am glad that you did! My last bargain was a beautiful little fake fur jacket in dusky pink that I bought for Niamh a few weeks ago! We were in the supermarket , in the clothes section when she started oohing over this jacket I picked it up for a look and saw that it was reduced to £8 fantastic, as I tried to get one in her size I saw others marked down to £4 and picked out one of those! When we went to the checkout (self scan ) I never noticed but when I checked my receipt later it had went through at £2, not bad for a jacket that started at £20. xxx

It is still cold sweety - it is between 1 and 4 degrees over the next few days and dipping down to -1 at some points, they have forecast snow too but I don't think our area will get it! It might fit her for a while as it is age 8-9 but she grows very quickly so we will have to wait and see! xxx

I didn't used to be lucky at all and I didn't used to be able to spend money on treats. Over time I've been able to relax. Not smoking has given me more money but now, my income has been cut and looks like it may be cut even further. Don't know what I'll do then...at least I will smell purty.

That sounds excellent joan. There is a shop in the town where Dad lives, two actually, that have good clothes sales. One of them is a ladies store mostly and they have things for $5 sometimes. The clothes are mostly lovely and a good fit with big sizes....some of them are awful though...lol. The other store is a big brand name clearance store with shoes as well and they have some awesome bargains there. I have to stay away because I can get really carried away

Sometimes I let my head go a bit too often. Sometimes I say 'no', but then if a month or two later it's still available, I have to say 'yes'. I learned a long time ago to get credit when you don't need it. You sure can't get it when you do need it. This is sort of the same...

Well you definitely can't turn down a bargain like that. I'm glad you splurged on yourself and bought it. I'm sure if you hadn't you wish you would have and by the time you got back there it wouldn't be that cheap. Some times we need to do things like that for ourselves. I have found a few bargains like that over the years but can't think of one off hand. Horrible I know. I guess it's old age creeping in. I'll probably remember twenty minutes after I hit post.

Yep, I agree, I think I waited long enough. I pretty much went without for a lot of that time too. It's a very delicate flowery scent that lasts all day on me without my having to use too much. It's so lovely and I feel really good wearing it. I manage to find good bargaoins in the dollar stores too.

Way to go MsTickle!! I like your style because I have the same conversation with myself when I see something on special and I can't really afford it! Just before Christmas I saw Obsession perfume (my fav) on special for less than half price. I had my conversation with myself, and decided not to buy it, but when I got home I couldn't stop thinking about it and was kicking myself for not getting it - so bad, that I went to that shop the day after and purchased the perfume! Could have saved myself another trip into town by just getting it the day before, lol! I'm happy!

I'm so pleased for you. I guess we are really meant to have our little gifts to ourselves. I wonder why we have these little discussions. To me it's the same as thinking it through...sometimes we make a snap decsion and it's not the right way to go and so, we miss an opportunity.

Yes! I feel you. I got a pair of shoes off of ebay that were originally marked at 59.99. I bought them for 16.99 and paid 6.00 in shipping. I thought that was a huge steal. They were really cute and not sold around here either so that made it all the better!

Yes,it was, and I didn't see that it was 20% off. I tend to bargain shop too. I've hit a financial hurdle though now so I'm not sure how things will be for a while. When I can, I'm going to begin saving so I can travel. I'd like one overseas trip at least and I'd like to travel and explore Australia too.

That is fantastic! The other week, I bought some more Sims2 expansion games. I knew that one was 1/2 price but not that both were half price! I ended up paying less for both of them than I would have for the most expensive one! And I have to say, I was going to get a couple more, but remembered why I was out shopping and decided against it.

On that same shopping trip when I did the grocery shopping, one of my regular expensive items was 2 for $10 - the price is normally $5.69 each. But when I got home I saw that the goods were listed at the normal price.

wow! that's a big big discount mstickle! it wasn't a mistake that you decided to buy it. something like that happens once in a while. and that's really a big discount to let go! the last bargain i bought was a pack of pears. one pack contains six pieces of pears. i love pears as much as i love apple but at that time in the grocery the apple seemed very small to me and the pears were larger. its because it was on buy one take one promo! so i got another pack for free when i bought a pack. it was a good treat because pears aren't in season and they just get expensive during Christmas.

I only shop for clothes in the clearance rack unless I desperately need something that I have to pay full price for. The last time I just popped into WalMart to pick up some bread and some diapers they had a rack of clothes for boys up by the checkout. Everything on the rack was $1.00. I got my sons each two pairs of khakis and 2 pairs of jeans and 2 sweaters they can wear next year. I spent $12 and got them a 1/3 of what they get for school each year new.

Now that was a great win. What a good shopper you are. With clothes, when I get them really cheap, it makes me wince for when I pay full price on items...the mark-up must be at least 500% in some cases.
