mosh pits

Is it just me, or does it seem as though mosh pits have lost some of their ferver? I have been to concerts lately and yes, there are some people there in the pit who really go crazy and genuinely feel the music. There are some who simply think being in the pit is "the cool thing" to do, so they want to do it for image's sake. There are some who join the pit simply because they are too drunk or high on whatever substances. People still run and crash and all in the pit, but it just seems like in recent years the energy has faded a bit and also that not as many people have been inclined to be in the pit as before. Of course, it does depend on what concerts you attend, but some that I have gone to would be "expected" to have a good mosh pit... Is this just my opinion and I am strange, or does anyone else feel that way?
