An experience Full of Charm The kindest thing that you can say about Wedding Crashers is the fact, that it is greatly charming. It is not the best comedy you'll ever encounter. It is not a perfectly pieced story. Yet, putting all that aside, it did have enough charisma to charm you into a good amount of laughs. In a ZeN Nut Shell Wedding Crashers is basically the story of divorce mediators (and best friends) John Beckwith (played by Owen Wilson) and Jeremy Grey (played by Vince Vaughn). This pair eagerly await a particular time of the year, the great celebrating time, good old wedding season. Together, they crash weddings, soaking up everything found in a wedding: cake, drinks, dancing, and of course their numero uno, favorite thing.. women. Each time posing as a diff. person. They claim to be someone who in one form or another, are suppose to be there. Now the part we care about in this movie, is when they find themselves crashing the holy grail of weddings. This is the wedding of the century, when a major politician's daughter is to be wed. (This politician is played by none other than the acclaimed and highly revered but visually frightening, Mr. Christopher Walken) When ol' John falls HARD for a bridesmaid (played by the always beautiful and curvaceous, "You can be a mean girl to me.. anyday" Racheal Mc Adams) He then ends up invited to spend the weekend with her and her family. This is when he drags ol' Jeremy to a weekend that is filled with lots of laughs and surprises around every corner. ZeN Thoughts about The Story O.k. now. Looking at this movie as a whole, you find that certain parts of it are lets say.. not the whole shebang. The story is lacking in that it was written in two pieces basically. I mean in one part it is what we expect a crude and rude, gross out funny movie. That part was cool. It was actually funnier than most movies you view that have this kind of humor. Yet, on the other side, they planted this unrealistic romantic THING (cause I don't know what else to call it) another sub plot, where Big nose Owen and Big Hips Racheal are falling for each other. This part, I really did not buy. I could stomach it, but it made me uncomfortable. Like watching your parent kiss passionately. (No one should have to see that.. You know what I mean?) All I am trying to say is, that part was forced. Now the other half, the raunchy, hold nothing back comedy... that I did like. That part was a hilarious, side-splitting, comedic experience. If only they could have fused those two sides better, then they would have had a pretty great movie. Yet, instead of complementing.. they only produced an awkward feeling. Zaved by The Charm The thing that ultimately salvages the story is the great charm that the actors have. First and foremost, Rachel Mc Adams was so likeable. I mean she played sweet better than a caramel would. Plus, no one can take their eyes off of her, since she is such candy to the eyes. It's nice to see that she is an up and comer these days. She delivered just what the script asked for. Then you have the always charming Owen Wilson. The last time I saw him was in Life Aquatic (which he was solid in...) I always find him to be full of charm. I especially think that in movies such as The Big Bounce and the movies he came out in with Jackie Chan (Shanghai Noon and Shanghai Knights) he was very much a charming man. Here I thought it was bad direction when it came to the romance scenes. It was as if, we should forget the actual chemistry, because its a comedy, and just go with it. Well the romance did not fit. Although in the comedy section, this dude rocked. He was He-La-Ri-Us. Im telling ya, dude was funny. The charisma just wins you over. Like a daughter getting money from daddy.. those big brown eyes never fail. Same with Owen, if at first you don't like him, he ultimately MAKES you like him. Then you have Mr. Vince Vaughn. I just loved him in Swingers. He gives you this off-beat, comedic delivery, that just knocks your socks off. Not the typical funny.. and way funnier than the next guy. In this movie he is quite full of hilarity. Don't be surprised, if you come out of the theater knowing what Mr. Vaughn looks like under his undies.. Now, I was disappointed a bit with Chis Walkens performance. Not that he did anything wrong, but we just did not get enough of him. I am a big Walkens fan, from movies like Blast from the Past and Batman. (There are some movies that he was much better in, but these are just some of my person faves.) Here, sadly we got a mild viewing of walkens, but like they say: some walkens is better than nahthen. There is this girl that comes out in the movie called Isla Fisher. This chick plays the bridesmaid from H E double hockey sticks. I mean this chick is nuts and likes them too. (Believe me) definitely a kooky monkey. She plays crazy like Russel Crow plays serious. Rated R for.. Revelry? Filled with nasty sexually explicit jokes as well as sexually explicit visuals, this movie could receive nothing else than a rating of R. Also, it has some nudity. While it does seem like the nudity is there for no particular reason, boobies are boobies, and we must not complain about them. If you did not know, that is the rule. ZeN says: don't Expect A lot and You Will not be disappointed. Wedding Crashers is all raunchy, all funny, and has a (somewhat) sensitive side to it. Its biggest asset is its great ability to charm you. It leaves you satisfied with a hurting side.. because in the end it is funny.
