Do you use your bread maker every day? If not, then every week? Are you the person that would rather roll it out by hand, as you find the bread is better? I use my bread maker every other week, as I still enjoy making bread by hand. Its a good way to spend time with my daughter making loaves in different shapes. Each year we make a few loaves to give as gifts.

I don't have a lot of luck with my bread maker. It rises nicely then falls before it's done. I don't use it often..most of the time I forget it's in the cabinet. I usually prefer to use my stand mixer to knead it and then bake in the oven.

My bread maker makes poor loaves, so I understand why the oven is great. My only problem is my house gets hot using the oven. Thanks for the reply.

I have a very old machine and should get a new one. Its from when the machines were costly for any machine.

I've tried to make my own bread (by hand) several times of the years and it just never came our right. I'm too impatient and don't think I let it rise enough or something.
I haven't tried it in years and just last week decided to give it another go. I made two loaves last week and then two more loaves the other day, and all four came out great!
I've used my bread machine before (not that often) and to me it's just not the same. I'm going to continue to make my own by hand and going to try pizza dough too.

I have made bread from scratch before. I am interested in getting a bread maker but want to know how good they actually are. Can you fill me in a little about the pros and cons of owning/using one. Such as thwe ease of using one. The overall taste and looks of the bread. Does it use much electricity? Our toaster oven used a LOT so we got rid of that. On and on.
In the late summer and early fall I make my own zuchinni bread from my garden grown zuchinnis. I also like to make my own banana bread. But those are simple as opposed to true breads.

The biggest pro is just put in the ingredients and you can get other things done. A con I have an old machine back when they first came out and the loaves are poorly shaped. I need to get a new one. Mine is very easy to use, but its using to much electricity. I have started looking at new ones and plan to get a smaller machine. Mine takes up most of my counter and is very heavy. Thanks for the reply.

When I first got mine I would make a fresh loaf every day. I love the smell of baking bread, but gradually I started doing it less and less to the point wehere I can't remember the last time I used it. This post may just inspire me to dust the old machine off and start using it again.

Hi Fishmomma, I'm ashamed to say that my bread making machine is collecting dust on the top shelf of my pantry. It is a wonderful way to spend time with our daughters though. I will have to clean the cobwebs out since my girl is coming home for the weekend. Thanks for the reminder.

That is funny and my juicer use to collect cob webs. Have a great time with your daughter. They grow up so fast that its hard to believe where the time has gone. Thanks for the reply.

I had a bread maker and ended up using it to mix up and knead the bread, then let it rise out of the machine. I found the bread a little dense when baked in the machine itself. I used to love to knead my own bread, but seems to be a lot of work now and hard on my arms and shoulders. I taught my older son to make bread last year and I think it's something to definitely learn how to do.

I completely understand kneading is hard work. Its the reason I bought the bread maker. I like how much time it can save me also when my business is open. Thanks for the reply.

I use my bread machine about once every 2 weeks also. Not because I like to make it by hand though-- because it's the only time I think about it-
My daughter has been asking to make a fruit bread in there... I have never yet-- I've only made french bread and pizza dough--
DO you have any good recipes for fruit bread??

I use mine about 2-3 times a week. Basically as often as we need bread. I'm ashamed to say I'm too lazy to do it by hand.
I like to throw the ingredients into the machine and leave it. My machine does a great job and I've never had any problems with it, every loaf is perfect.

It's a morphyrichards. It's not much point saying the model as it is about 6 or 7 years old but it still makes great bread.
I have had to replace the paddle and baking pan several times but it is used a lot.
