Should discussions that are over 6 months old be deleted?

I was searching through the site the other day for interesting discussions. Now this is going to sound funny, but I was looking through Today's Top Discussions. Remember that is TODAY'S Top discussions. There was an article there that was a year old! Now do you think that article should have been in TODAY'S discussions? lol I was so surprised at that. I don't answer discussions that far back, I want to, but when I read through the answers, I don't see any recent answers, etc., so I don't. So what do you say? Should those discussions be deleted to make room for newer discussions?

I don't think if they are a year old, that people would loose their earnings. At least the article I read had not been replied to for a while. I don't remember what the article was about. lol Just was wondering if older messages should stay or leave. lol

This has always been an interesting discussion here. I know for me, there are discussions I have started a long time ago, that I wish could be deleted, etc. but then if they delete them, this could delete some of your earnings and if you are a member like me who has been here for almost a yr. and a half, I have some discussions with quite a few answers over time, and so I feel if I was to loose earnings by them doing this, then it is best they don't. Just some of my thoughts.

I understand that, but what if the person is no longer active, who gets the pay if new comments are made?

Ok, I wondered the same thing too. But put this way, I discovered a post of yours from two years ago and you just got paid on it today :-)

Yes it is true and I appreciate it. I was just saying discussions that have no relevant value to people like the one I posted 2 years ago should be deleted. I joined 2 years ago and did a couple of discussions and got no replies from them. Now it wouldn't had mattered to me if those had been deleted. I just think certain things should stay and other's should go.

Icyorchid, no we shouldn't delete older discussions. This is not Yahoo Answers, and we should allow the discussions to remain open in order for anyone to chime in/answer in the future. If it's a newer discussion that is why there is a tab for "new" and "recent" discussions. They will all appear under those tabs ;). So, I would have to say that I don't agree with what you say, sorry. Pablo

Ok you all miss understood me. I meant the one's that are not full of information. I meant the one's that are basically like what are you cooking for dinner tonight, bla bla bla. lol I didn't put that in my discussion I realize that now. lol The one's that explain how to do things, etc. they should stay. I was trying to do this and something else at the same time and didn't realize I hadn't put that in.

Discussions are directly related to our earnings so they can't delete them I think.

i agree with you.then there's more space for new discussions.in addition,i like the feeling of empty and clear.in fact,i want to delete one of my discussions which has no response to date. while, all that should be carried out without damaging others' interest.as mylot earnings system is fluctuating all the time,we make sure anyone who has responded to our discussion won't loose their earnings once the relative discussions been deleted. of course, any discussion which is illegal itself is excluded. in that case, the interface of mylot would be more comfortable and clear.

it is one of my ideas also. but i think there are few old discussions which are still getting responses. may be they are so nice. i think it would be better if Mylot delete those depending on the user is active or inactive for a long time.

Yea I agree if they are no longer on mylot, why keep them, if they are full of information, that's different though, but just stuff like what's for dinner? That can be deleted. lol I think if you are no longer on mylot, the discussions should go as well. If you are active, maybe they should stay, depending on value to mylot. Thanks for the reply

I agree with that! lol I get lost sometimes too. Then I find myself searching for 1 discussion and passing up all the rest. Not right either. lol

OH no, no way, no how! Why do you think it was in todays top discussions sweety? My best guess is what sometimes happens happened here - someone answered it and it caught the interest of other people who hadn't seen it first time around! I love when an old discussion comes live again and it can be very interesting! As long as there is enough space to store all the discussions why delete them? If you feel like answering old discussions do it sweety - I am sure the poster would love it! xxx

Thanks I don't remember what discussion it was actually. lol I don't know why it was there either. It was like 10 pages long so I didn't go all the way through the replies. I do answer replies that are of interest, without realizing how old it is, but I think this was just something that was like a few sentences of a discussion and I found it funny that it was in the top discussion for that day that's all. Thanks for the reply

Discussions and time hey mate here we are for discussing things irrespective of when they were posted there's no relation between the 2 if you find a topic irrelevant now just ignore it. And a year old topic can also be discussed if you find it relevant and anyways no topic comes up unless somebody else finds it relevant and have posted into it. So if you find a topic in today's discussions some body might have posted thier today and he felt like posting then why not anybody else may also feel the same as far as topics like that what you are cooking for today are seen they are open anytime though it may not be worth discussing but thats purely upto you. You can't delete them. From mylot's side mylot also wanna advance . They also want to be search engine optimized they want thier discussions to be there. And they have already paid for that posts why should they delete?! As far as you own choice is considered you won't get any problem if you don't delete it then why delete?!

I think they should not be deleted. Deleting discussions also deletes the responses made to that discussion. Let's not forget that there are people who still have not reach the payout(that includes me). So deleting it would reduce our earnings.

I think that discussion that are old should eb kept around, they can be resurected and it is nice to be able to see what was on the go a while ago. Perhaps they should not be included in today top discussion. Although I have no idea how the top discussons for today are chosen. Some are one liners or they are old or they have no quality responses or no responses at all. Todays tops discussions should be chosen more carefully I think.

No they should not be deleted because articles are very important tools of communication in this community so deleting them will make this community boring.

I think, if the discussion hasn't had any new posts in it for 6 months, then yes, it should be deleted to make room for newer discussions.

I don't think old discussions should be deleted. Because, every discussion,in itself, will be important,at one point of time or the other, no matter how ridiculous they sound now. We should Preserve all the discussions. Imagine we had something similar to My Lot on paper in the 15th Century. Copernicus would have discussed the helio centric nature of our Solar System. At that time, it would have been ridiculed. Think of now. Future Generations might one day learn from our discussions....

I wonder how it wound up on the top discussion list. Possibly a software glitch. You could always add something to the discussion, you might get it started again. I know this morning I did a search on a movie I recently watched. The discussion was not in the direction I wanted to go with it, so I started my own discussion. I don't think discussions should be deleted because they could restart again as a flicker and turn into a full blaze. You never know.
