Learning something new!

So for the first time in nearly 5 yrs the kids finally got to go and see their "Poppa" in Canada over the weekend which was of course wonderful (we all just adore him to bits!) Well while we were there...He tried teaching them how to knit at the request of my son...Well my son didnt get the hang of it but my daughter picked it up right away and Poppa sent her home with some yarn and knitting needles...Well of course my interest while watching them was highly piqued and I had my daughter teach me!!! I'M NOW KNITTING!! 
and loving it LOL....
My son still couldnt get the hang of it so I broke out my crocheting stuff and taught him how to do that which he picked up right away 
Do you like to learn new crafts? Do you knit? Who taught you? Once you get the basics of the standard stitch (I dont knwo the proper name for it) is it hard to learn additional stitches?

I'm not the artsy craftsy person I know basic crochet and that is it and I think the basic knit it knit one pearl two. Not sure thought I do love to try crafts hoping that something will stick LOL!!! Have a nice one.
