Do you think rapping can ruin some songs?

So I'll be sat watching the music channel when a song I haven't heard before comes on. It could be Justin Timberlake or a female singer such as Nelly Furtado. By half way through the song, I'll be really enjoying it and already planning to buy it. Then suddenly, it cuts to someone rapping. They will stand there speaking and I can only catch a few words, such as refugees and owning boats in Shakira - Hips Don't Lie. In this case, it doesn't even sound like it is to do with the song. By now I find the song has been ruined, and that its time to switch over. My buying plans are over unless I can find an album version of the track without the random rap.
Now this isn't always the case, sometimes I find that it sounds quite good. I don't mind if its at the start of a song either.
Anyone else not a fan of this 'rap' business?

I am strongly biased on this subject as I can't stand rap music, it's the same words chanted over and over and over again and it does my head in! It's not even music, you can't call it music, just endless chanting. I won't listen to any rap music and will always turn it off if it comes on in disgust. People go mad over M&M and I can't stand him, I think he's obnoxious and his music is awful!

I completely agree.
The worst one has to be 50 cent. He speaks! Slowly! How is that talent?
The stuff he speaks about is stupid, rude and loved by people as young as 5!
No wonder kids are growing up getting pregnant young etc.

I'm not a fan of many currently popular rap artists. They are just not as talented or creative (with a few exceptions) as the rappers when I was a kid. I grew up listening to Sugar Hill Gang, Run DMC, etc. I hate that I am starting to sound like an old person, constantly saying 'when I was a kid...'. But seriously, when I was a kid most musicians had talent & not just the ability to say cuss words or talk about their money, girls, cars etc.
