Well after a couple long and healthy walks today I am finally sitting home relaxing. We own an Oster Rotissierie machine and have never made a whole chicken in it so that's what we are doing today for dinner. We are basting it with olive oil, it's own juices and Mrs Dash seasoniong. We do not have a thermometer so we have to cook it by sight etc. One day we will get a thermometer I hope to check the temps knowing certain foods are done at certain temps and higher. Anyhow it's looking delicious and smelling great as well. I can actuall smeel things I never really knew before due to not smoking for a week now.
So what's for sinner today? Do you use ot own a meat thermoter for cooking? Do you own or use a candy thermometer if you make candy?
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

That sounds really good. I have to laugh though, you asked whats for SINNER today and not DINNER. LOL
Congrats on not smoking for a week. I quit for a long time before when I got sick like that years ago. I really need to quit, but I have cut way back, though I've never smoked more than a half pack a day!

We dont own a Oster Rottisserie, but we do have something very similar.. a weber type bbq, quite a big one. We do nearly all our roasts on, such as lamb, beef & chicken & pork. You can do spuds, carrots & pumpkin on it as well.
You will find that chicken roasts very well in your rotissierie.
Have you made a stuffing for it? You can't have a roast chicken without stuffing.
This is what I put in my stuffing:
bread crumbs
chopped onion
chopped parsley
lemon juice
one egg

I BBQ a lot of things on my gas grill as well. I did have a large smoker but never used it and gave it to one of the kids. I did not make stuffing with the chicken. Baked taters, green beans, and dinner rolls was it. The chicken was tasty as hell also.

It took about 100 minutes total to cook it. Man it was tasty as well. Buster had a field day as well with some scraps mixed with his food.

I am making a whole roasted chicken today. I got it out Satuday to thaw in the fridge. I rub mine down with margerine and put it in the oven to bake.
I used to have a meat thermometer but it quit working and I need to buy a new one. I do own two candy thrmometers. I use them I make hard rock candy for Bruce, all of the time.
I am still trying to quit smoking. I am having a rough time of it.

Well keep at the attempt to kick the smoking habit. I tried many times myself and failed. Who knows how long this time will last as well.

Hello Grandpa Bob! Pablo writing to you. You ask what's for dinner, well I think it will be pizza. We have some frozen pizza we can cook. We have a meat thermometer which we use when we cook chicken, turkey, pork, or beef. We don't make candy so we don't have a candy thermometer. We have a toaster oven to bake those small chickens, aren't they good? We also use Ms Dash, and sometimes Olive Oil.
It's the best, right?
Well take care and have a wonderful Sunday Granpa Bob!

I have no idea what is for dinner tonight. Your chicken sounds yummy though.
I have a meat thermometer and a candy thermometer. I have a regular meat thermometer that had the dial on it and a digital one that you stick in the meat and the actual thermometer sits on the outside of the oven. I do not use the candy thermometer much anymore. I have made so much of my toffee that I don't need to use it anymore. I go by visual on the toffee.

No I don't have thermometer for cooking, I just make sure it's done sometimes I do cook it a bit longer than normal to be sure of it... I have never made candy actually but would like too, sense it's so expensive.. Mainly the chocolates.. I know many things can be made like peanut butter bars... Sounds good don't it.. My dinner was Spegetti and yeah it was good I haven't had that in a long time... I did also make some garlic bread to go with it...

I never use thermometer on food. Period. LOL! I so lack imagination when it comes to cooking but my family claims to love my cooking. He he he! Keep it up Grandpa Bob. I mean about not smoking. My father stopped for awhile but he just didn't have enough discipline and control over himself, so he started smoking again after a few months. Ouch.
