I am just about to purchase a new washer - I am tired of going to the laundry mat and spending $20 every 10 days or so.... I want to be able to do other things while my laundry is going -
I have heard good things and bad about front loaders - but am really considering buying one.
I was looking at the LG brand at sears and it looks enticing.... its energy star rating is 171, and I think looking at comparable models that is pretty darn good.

have any of you got the LG brand, or have you heard of it?
it is a new one by me. it is currently on sale for a couple more days and no interest no payments for a year, so I could pay it off within the year and it will be the same as cash payment.... plus I have a gift certificate for $100.

I have looked at it and did consider the machine. We decided a space saver washer and dryer together was a better choice for us. I was tired of hanging sheets in my house when the weather wasn't suitable to dry clothes outside. Sears is a good place to buy a machine, as had my last one had almost 20 years.

We have a top loading washing machine now but when we need to replace it we are going to get a front loading. My sister has one and she says you can fit at more in it and they get cleaner. The clothes are able to move around better. I know they also use less water and detergent.
Brightest Blessings, Mari

I'm not sure but I believe it is an LG from Sears. I know it definitely came from sears.

They are fantastic modestah. I do not have one but when I must buy a new one, that is certainly the brand we are going to be interested in. Having a washing machine of your own will pay for itself more than once if you are doing your laundry at a laundry mat. I am so pleased for you and I bet you are excited as well.

We just bought a Whirlpool top loading washer last week. It has all kinds of bells and whistles on it. It's even got a 'handwashing cycle'. We got it at ABC Warehouse.
I have seen the commercials for the LG washers and dryers, but do not know much about them. Have you checked out E Opinions and other review sites? That is what we did when we bought our new washing machine.
It sounds like a good deal though.

well we finally got ours
after a lot of review reading and trying to muster the courage to spend that kind of money.
lucked out as we went to pick it up from the store rather than have it delivered, and the outlet store had a special price which saved us another $112! I was so happy.
we went with the whirlpool sports duet... but only the washer, will continue to hang clothes to dry.

I bought mine from sears it's a front loading energy efficient machine (Kenmore) I will never own a top loader again. I love my machine. It takes less water which took me awhile to wrap my brain around the issue of such little water and wanting my clothes to be clean, but it didn't take too long before I realized my clothes were actually coming cleaner and using far less water. Love it. I don't know how good the LG are but if they're anything like my computer, no worry. My computer is a LG and I'd buy LG again in a heart beat. Good luck my friend.

I got a top loader a few years ago, but ohhhh I'm jealous, not really but one day I want one. I have a friend that has one and loves it, she says it conserves energy and she can do larger loads, oh will all my boys I need larger loads, hehe.
Good luck and if you get it, congrats

I have looked at that same brand of washer and dryer and drooled over it. Unfortunately, we can't afford it right now and as my hubby pointed out, "There's nothing wrong with the one we have". But as soon as my current washer and dryer breaks down, I am going out to get this LG one.

I just went to that eopinions site - apparently there are several styles/models of this brand - even a steam washer, wouldn't that be nice?
The lowest price they show is 595, which is the same as the sears price.
I have a 100.00 gift certificate because of my mypoints cash in.
that makes it just under $500
we really can not afford it either - but with the 1 year no interest offer I can have it paid off with $50 a month.
It is costing me almost $50 a month to use the laundromat and then add in the gas to go back and forth to the laundry.... well, I think this is actually going to be doable!
I am glad to hear your support of the LG brand, it makes my decision easier!

I do not have an LG, but I heard of it through a commercial about that poor girl who only had one outfit to her name and she had to take it off and put it in the dryer to refresh it and take out all of the pollution. We have a Frigidaire Gallery that was probably replaced by the Frigidaire Affinity, and it does need to replace the control switch every five years, so you can tell how long we had it. The one you are going to buy is quite good, but more than what we could afford to get. You have to use high efficiency detergent with it, because it must dissolve easier because front loaders use less water.

Well Modestah it is very rare to get anything other than a front loader here in the uk! I am not sure about the energy rating as i am pretty sure we have different systems! I don't have an LG washing machine but I do have a fantastic and big LG fridge freezer - I have had it for 10 years now and never had a problem , the quality is fantastic! Good luck with whatever you decide xxx

Well I am not old enough to remember what was used 40 years ago doll! I do remember my Gran talking about twin tubs but they are different from the top loaders that I have seen in the states! Sorry you had such a bad experience with your phone and vacuum that must have been irritating! As for the snow in the hole I hope there is no yellow around the edges! xxx

I have had a front loader washing machine for over 30 years now and have had no trouble with it at all. I have not got an LG one but I have heard of the company, I think my freezer
is an LG one

We don't have an LG brand front loader, but we do have a front loader. It's a good machine, we've only ever had one problem with it, but it was easily fixed. Sometimes, with front loaders, stuff can get pulled down into the drain, and clog the machine, you will know this happens when your laundry comes out still sopping wet. It turned out that some lint got pulled down there, and we were able to clean it out, no problem. Apparently, you can also get other things pulled in there, like thongs, lol. I thought that was pretty funny when I found that out.
Anyway, they are good machines, and you can fit quite a lot in them if you get a good sized one. We have 7 people in our house, so it's constantly running, and we've had it now for over a year and it still works great. I hope, that if you do get it, you enjoy it. One other thing, when buying front loaders, you can only use High Efficiency (HE) washing fluid, which is the same price as regular laundry detergent, but you don't need as much, which is great, because then the bottle lasts longer!

I don't think I have heard of that specific model of washer you are speaking of. I really think front loaders are great. It is expensive sometimes to run to the laundry mat and inconvenient. I just have a standard washer in my house, but boy has it made my life a little easier! We didn't have one for a little while since we moved in almost three months ago. I can hang my clothes in the house. Washers make a big difference and you can do other things while your washing your clothes

well we finally got our washer and it is finally hooked up... you are right, a lot easier. We ended up with the whirlpool duet and got a good price on it. It was less expensive when we went to pick it up at the store than the online sale price - so we got the lower price, plus the % off that was offered online. With our electric company we also get 100 dollars back for buying a new energy star appliance. It ended up costing less than our last top loader.
