A New Earth

I'm very impressed with Oprah, and the latest book that she is promoting, The New Earth by Eckhart Tolle. There is also a telecast every Monday night that is seen all over the world. I would recommend it to anyone with an interest in spiritual matters. The book can be purchased for $8.00, and would be a bargain at any price. By promoting this book, Oprah is doing a great service to people everywhere as it is one of the best books on Spirituality to come out in recent years. There are others, indeed I see a new awakening as a result of a greater emphasis on the Spiritual. I hope that she will continue to promote other such books in the future, and hopefully there will be more telecasts.

I read this book for Psychology of Religion II class long before it became this popular, and I have to say that it is not as great as everyone is making it out to be. It is a good book, do not get me wrong, but it is not great.

Well I think you already know my feelings about my feelings about A New Earth and Tolle...I have to admit I've gotten behind in reading it, but I still tune in every Monday for the webcast which has to be an historical first..I like the idea that one can download the transcripts, the audio only version (which I have all the classes so far) and the video and then can watch them any time--I would love to download the videos but am concerned it would take up a lot of my hard drive space
I actually got the book for free! I had posted a discussion over at the Oprah message boards under the subject of Tolle's book there..I said "Would Love To Read This Book....But" and explained that I couldn't get the book at my libraries near me as they were on the request list for like the next year and couldn't afford to buy a copy...then left the message boards for awhile to do other things...I came back about fifteen minutes later and I had response from a fellow member there...she gave me her email address as she wanted to get my address..she was going to send a copy of it FREE--she sent it to me priority mail (shes' in CA and I'm in NY) and by the Thursday before the very first webcast was on...I had the book! I plan to pay it forward and if I can help someone out in a similar fashion will...she refused any payment of any kind--I even offered to send her a pair of hand-crafted beaded earrings that I make...she wouldn't hear of it--so that book has a REAL special meaning to me as it truly was a gift...in more ways than one

Hi pyewacket, Thanks for coming here. That's a great story about how you got the book. Actually, my brother bought the book for me. I was going to try to get it from the library but he felt it would be great for me to have my own copy and I agree. I also have a sister who is reading the book and enjoying it, she is 85, so age is no barrier when someone is open to new things. Her son gave her the book as a birthday gift. I believe things come to us when we are ready for them. Blessings.

Oprah has always been a very spiritual lady full of positive energy ,so I'm not surprised that she is promoting a book about spiritual matters. I wish that we had more successful people like her giving always something back to society.
